Or you could just get an HD Antenna and hook it straight to your TV, and bypass the computer. But I would doubt that if your cable company doesn't broadcast ABC in HD, that the over the air signal would be HD, so neither an antenna or a tuner would help anyway. The HD tuner in the computer would most likely just allow you to hook the cable box to the computer, so if the cable box doesn't have ABC in HD, the computer tuner isn't going to help.

Strange that your cable company doesn't carry ABC in HD, period. Check your sked tonight and see if you can't pick up Dancing With The Stars on HD (no kidding, most if not all of ABC's best shows are already broadcast in HDTV). If it's not on your cable box, check w/ your cable company and ask why not.

So, are you saying your Samsung TV does not have an HDTV tuner already in there? If it does, all you need to do is hook up an antenna and tune to ABC using your TV tuner. Maybe even do a little surfing to see the multicast channels available in your area. Definitely an eye opener, and you don't need a cable TV hookup to see it.

If that TV is just HD ready, then you could go w/ the HDTV card in the computer plan. Connect the proper cables between the card and the HDTV monitor, attach the antenna to the card, set the monitor to the proper input, tune the card to ABC using your computer, and OSU-Michigan will be on ABC Saturday in two weeks. You can experiment between your component vs VGA (computer monitor) hookups to see which produces the better picture.

if the cable company is not broadcasting it in hd then it doesn't matter if you hook it up to a hd tuner. Check to see if the local abc station is broadcasting in hd over the air, then get an antenna and hook it up to your hd ready samsung. Just bypass the computer and cable box.

Which ABC channel is it? I couldn't find an ABC in Michigan or Ohio that isn't broadcasting an over the air digital signal. It's probably the cable company that isn't broadcasting in HD.
