Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. 15Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 16Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. (2 Tim 2)

This is not intended to hinder anyone from sharing the Word...only to encourage the avoidance of "godless chatter"

I agree.

I like 1 Cor 13: - That is one of my very favorite places in the Bible. It talks about love and I feel that I have so much to learn.
Love is patient...It is not rude...it is not easily angered.

I also like Ephesians 4:2 "Be humble and gentle in every way. Be patient with each other and lovingly accept each other"

Growing together requires patience and truthfulness. And when we are speaking truth in love, we need to check our motives.

"Why worry about the speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own ?...First get your own eye: then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye"
Matt 7:3-5

""An honest answer is a sign of true friendship" Proverbs 24:26

Thee is a line between judging people and confronting them in love. True friendship is willing to go an extra mile when your friend is not meeting you half way. We need to be able to address hard issues, but if we just learn to do it lovingly, that is what God wants us to do.

That's a good one! I like this one too.

2 Timothy 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

I agree....Its a good thing this isnt a chat room!
But yes, no need to continue on with someone even through e mails when it turns into fruitless controversary...

Those are good scriptures to refer to. As the Bible tells us- to share the word of God and if they do not want to listen, shake the dust off from your feet and move on!

Thank you for sharing!

Who was he talking to? What was being talked about? Where did this take place. Sometimes it is a specific thing being addressed, and you need to be able to defend your comparison or point. As for mindless drivel.....there is plenty of that here, but, is it possible to show God's love thru the internet, without spouting verses or offending?

A better passage would be Judges 3:5.

depends, some people come here genuinely to learn more about specific practises etc. some of it is curiousity and for others they seek guidance, others defend their beliefs, others try push theirs upon others. some don't believe and just want to incite others thus for them proving christianty is a hoax cos lord forbid we be upset or something,us only being human and all...... i think this passage applies more to the atheists and non believers but in its context i would say in general you are right.

You are so right. Especially when posting the truth gets your answer kicked off.

Absolutely , often times its totally pointless. Actually , I believe it is ' a grievous sin ' to take another person's hope away.
