I agree there is a double standard. But I find that women can be very mean to other women. Instead of standing together and supporting each other in general, many women do a better job of tearing down each other than a man could ever do. Men tend not to do this to each other.

Hello , not a woman of course but I'd like to add a few idea's . I do agree what you have stated is unfair and mens reputations suffer little if any from their acts as do women . However men continue to find willing participants even with the knowledge of mens reputations . Some women just are not accepting the labels you speak of and do as they please regardless of them . These are the willing participants who keep these idea's alive also . I think women judge other women at least as harshly as men do for these actions often times even more so. That takes us full circle and it's really all about how you feel about yourself and what magnitude you allow other peoples labels to affect you personally. Don't let other people men or women define who you are as a person . Be secure in your own feelings and what matters most to you . You pose a very good question .

Cause men think they know every damn thing there is about us women when we are the ones that suffer through the cycle and childbirth. Society is so screwed up with the men getting a pat on their backs for sleeping with a number of women but just like you said, when a woman does it, she is everything but a child of God. I think that men are hypocrites and no one has a right to judge anyone because NO ONE is perfect!! Honey you got the ball going, lol, I hope there are other women out there that feel the same way you and I do cause it doesn't make sense at all.

We're already called every bad name in the book! Thing is, it doesn't bother us. My wife calls me an *******! My response is that she knew that already when she agreed to marry me, 32 years ago!
On a more serious note, however, when I was dating, I could only sleep with a girl if I really cared about her. And there wasn't that many I cared about. And I've known some pretty loose girls.
It's true that girls lose more by sleeping around but I think you'll find that guy sluts, or whatever else you want to call them, rarely find a good woman to settle down with.

Young lady this is the basic difference in men and women with some exceptions certainly there and no one can change that. So dont bother about that too much and stop hating men as general.

I agree with you in principle. If there is a derogatory name for a woman who has had sexual encounters, there must be one for a man too. But there isn't, at least to the best of my knowledge.
Why don't you invent one? Yahoo Answers is a wonderful forum for such things, and your suggested word might just catch on. Alternatively, it might spark off other ideas and a new word might get created. Either way it would be nice to know that you contributed to the expansion of the English Language.
So go ahead and suggest something.

well youre right about it being unfair, that us women get called sluts, yet guys do not. but that doesnt make not want to be with them. My brothers nickname is "Man Whore" and it kinda hurt his feelings, he never claims to be a "player "or anything, just good looking and lucky.

Women who are "sluts" usually are the ones who have been with multiples and multiples of men. and men arent always very honest about what girls they have actually been with. In other words there is more talk than action.

its the machismo thing with men when they sleep with a lot of women. i don't know, i think from way back ancient times its like that. its unfair yes, but its still the society that looks at it that way.
its always our choice though, we're free to do it our way.
