You can call your landlord and explain the situation to her. But if she says no, then you are out of luck. Most reputable adoption places will ask for your landlord's phone number to verify that pets are allowed or will ask for a signed letter with phone number stating that it's acceptable.
If you have ANY possibility of moving into another no pet apartment, then it's not a good time to get a pet. Wait until you are more stable so that you don't end up with heartbreak later. Unfortunately with all the unethical breeders and owners out there, there will always be dogs available at local shelters.

Talk to your landlord tell her there are of course five girl's in your renting apartment and your not in the safest place and frankly a bit scared. Your hoping to get a dog because you would feel safer. You could even suggest you could take pictures of the place as is. Say if the house gets worse dog's out. So this way if the house gets bad you'll have to clean it up anyway and the dog's out. Say you can meet the dog so she/he isn't mean or anything to you and maybe you'll love him/her. Suggest ful breeds. Oh, offer to pay something just in case for the year you pet makes anything bad such as chews or anything by accident this way she can fix it. Or sign a contract to fix what ever mistake your dog makes and pay for them. German Shepherds Newfoundlands. Siberian husky Boxer no they aren't bad dogs if trained right and don't have one cropped ears or docked tail cause that may turn off the landlord and it's cruel! Black lab Golden Retriever. Tell her you'll clean up after him/her and everything but say you understand if you say no because it is your apartment and I won't break your rules. Very understanding. Do some research on the breeds I have given you. Out of the breeds I suggest I think bets would be a golden retriever but if you walk them alot you should be fine look at some local animal shelters. A pit bull even tho I love them and they are loyal turn off a whole lot of people because of the media More: Learn to fight at the moment! Box! I do boxing and pretty good at it. Plus having some friends to help improve your fighting with. Work out at a local gym or something. But i have a gun so you may want one of those. I also have a knife on me at all times when Im in bad areas not so much my gun than. Just learn how to us it and use it properly. Not a small stab if someone is coming after you. you better stabbed near the neck, the neck, pressure points. Take some classes

If your lease states no pets, then it means just that. Usually a lease that allows pets requires a deposit for each animal, but in your case you don't want to pay anymore than you pay now. So my advice to you is to get a Bird or some fish and let the dog issue go. Your landlord will appreciate it.

Dogs are not made for apartments and its not cool to "assume" the other tenants wouldn't mind the noise. I would talk to them first before even speaking to the landlady. She may say yes, but when tenants start complaining, their is nothing you can do to stop her from forcing you to remove the nuisance. That would be a royal pain in azz. Either the dog goes or you have to find a new place to live...Worth it? Hardly.
Plus no yard for the dog sucks...You need to think this through a little better and go a few steps beyond only what you "want".
Good luck.

most landlords will always say no if it says it in your lease due to all the remodeling they have to do when the tenents move out,,, there is alot of people that would let their dog tear up the place, ruin the carpet with potty issues, im not saying that you would do that but there is alot of irresponiable owners of pets that let that happen and the landlady just doesnt want her place tore up just in case that was to happen,, i would suggest that if you want a dog then find a place that lets you have a dog,,, I hope this helps and good luck on asking her about the dog

You have to abide by the lease, if it says "no pets" it means no pets. You signed a contract, your lease (you can move or abide by the terms of the lease). You can move to an apartment where you can have pets.
If your landlord said no she means no, don't push it.
I am in the same situation, but, I abide by the terms of the lease, no dog!

My landlord said I could have my cat but no dogs. I wanted a small dog. I have carpet in the living room and bedroom. I got him to agree to let me have a small dog if I agreed to replace the carpet in the living room and bedroom when I moved out. I am now the proud new mom of the best bichonpoo in the world.

THE PROBLEM IS, IF SHE LETS YOU HAVE A DOG EVERYONE WILL WANT A DOG. IT'S HARD FOR LANDLORDS TO CONTROL THE PET SITUATION. YOU MAY BE REPONSIBLE, BUT YOUR NEIGHBOR MAY NOT BE AND THEN THERE'S PUPPIES. OR SOMEONE WILL WANT A PIT OR ROTTI AND MOST INSURANCE COMPANIES WON'T COVER THESE BREEDS. IF YOU REALLY WANT A DOG, TRY TO FIND A PET FRIENDLY BUILDING. ON THE SUBJECT OF INSURANCE, YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO COVER BITES AS WELL AS APARTMENT DAMAGE. IF YOUR DOG BITES SOMEON, YOUR LANDLORD COULD BE AT RISK FOR A SUIT.
