I get my curser at the top of the document which I have already started. I go into “Format” and then “Paragraph” and select double spacing.

What happens is it will double-space for a portion of the existing document then just quit. I have to go to where Word STOPPED double spacing (for no apparent reason) and re-enter the command.

Why do I have to do this? Does it have anything to do with me hitting the return/enter key at the end of a paragraph? Why should that matter?

It’s easy to fix but it bugs me.

It stops at the end of a paragraph because you are paragraph formatting. To double space the entire document, use the shortcut before you begin typing. If you have already typed a portion of your document, select all then click on the double space shortcut.

This is what the "help" thing says;

Select the text that you want to change, or click Select All on the Edit menu.

On the Formatting toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, press ALT and then SHIFT+F10.), point to Line Spacing .

If the Formatting toolbar is not visible, on the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Formatting.

Click the arrow next to Line Spacing , and then click 2.0.

I don't believe it though...I use Word alot, but sometimes I think it was made by communist morons in a bordello somewhere in the south of France...

Try selecting all and trying again.

To restart the double spacing, try to delete the space between the first single space sentence and the last double space sentence. You'll get rid of the end of command.

I think with your method it just double spaces the paragraph you're in.

ctrl+a
ctrl+2

If that doesn't work, then maybe it's an error in word.
