Ask your Mom how do you get a boy friend? Tell her that every other girl seems to have someone but nobody seems to want you. Tell her you feel funny standing with a crowd and the suddenly noticing that every girl has a guy holding her hand except you. She will then instantly transform from hyper strict combat Mom to very understanding super Mom. When she starts giving you ideas on how to find the right guy, smile and say you will try it (whatever she advises). Next day come screaming into your moms room with the news that HER ideas worked!!! You have a boy friend! And it's all thanks to her. Whats she going to say? Uh wait a minute no you can't? No that will make feel like a hypocrite! Is this sneaky? Hell, yes! How do you think I found my first girl friend?

I would suggest telling her you have a boy friend but make sure she thinks it is a friend and tell her you would like her to meet him. If she is real strict it is because she does not want you to make the same mistakes she has seen in her life and the lives of people she knows.
If you are at least 16 years old and she gets to like your friend even though he is a boy she may decide he is nice enough she can trust him to protect you

Why dont you tell her you have a new friend and he's wonderful to talk to, hang out with and you have alot of the same interests. Dont tell her your dating just yet, let her adjust to him being your great friend first and then maybe in a months time tell her how excited you are that you've got feelings for him and how you hope things may work out? Theres no way to do it gently unless you place some time between.
