This might sound strange but I use an eraser from a pencil it it comes off my DVDs I wrote on plus I just made sure they were permanent and yes they are.
Let me guess the kid got a hold of a marker right.
I must have a cheap permanent marker because i rubbed it off my computer screen with my finger.

This gets tricky. Use the same marker and go over the same spot. Immediately use a soft cloth with cooking oil to wipe the mark. Do not ever use strong solvents on plastic as this will eat the paint and the plastic.

well, sometimes if you go back over the marker with the same marker, it will somehow loosen up the older one. Then try the nail polish to get the top layer off and it should all come off. Good luck!

Use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser - sounds like an endorsement but just try it.

Go to Radio shack or similar electronic store.
ASK FOR TFT CLEANER SPRAY...apply it with a Q tip it will not harm the plastic....
There is also a SPECIAL CLEANER for TV and PC surfaces that does not harm plastic or glass...but TFT is stronger...
VIDEO HEAD CLEANER will do too.
Good luck

Nail polish remover. You can also try Bon Ami, but only that and no other scouring powder. Bon Ami is talc and won't scratch glass.
