The formula is
weight (in kg.)/ Height (in meters squared)
Center for disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is a good and trusted govt. site.
Remember BMI is a guide but like all other guides is not a perfect measure....the opponents argue about several drawbacks including the fact that BMI does not ascess what fraction of the weight is fat and what is lean muscle....but go to the website..it has free calculators and lotsa info.
good luck

Know if you need to lose weight
Health specialist use a measure called BMI, short for Body Mass Index. Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. This gives a good measure of your total body fat. BMI compares your height and weight. It shows if you are underweight, at a healthy weight, or overweight.
You know how many pounds are there in 1 kg. Do not know let me help you, it is 1 kilogram = 2.20462262 pounds. Check out what your BMI is by using the BMI calculator.

BMI Category
Below 18.5 Underweight
Between 18.5 - 24.9 Healthy Weight
Between 25 - 29.9 Overweight
Over 30 Obese
Look at the BMI chart to find out how much weight you need to lose to move from obese to overweight or from overweight into a healthy range. Knowing this can help you set a good weight loss goal.

You can use the Body Mass Index to find out if your are at healthy weight for your height. If you know your height and weight, you can work out which weight range you're in. Body Mass Index (BMI) = Weight (KGS) / ( Height (METER) ) ^ 2 Body type is found out using: If your BMI is less than 18.4 you are underweight for your height. If your BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9 you're an ideal weight for your height. If your BMI is between 25 and 29.9 you're over the ideal weight for your height. If your BMI is between 30 and 39.9 you're obese. If your BMI is over 40 you're very obese. You could also download a BMI calculator from internet

In the mood for some sort of hot meal? Make a enormous pot of veggie bean soups, divide into two-cup containers, and store inside the freezer. Before bed, place a container in the fridge, then grab it before heading out the door every day.

For sandwich-lovers, use spinach or swiss chard leaves as an alternative to a wrap, skip the peel of cheese, and load on the veggies.
