OMG! We have 4 and the house is over run with cat-itude! One female and 3 males. Boo Boo is the female with the biggest attitude. She will swat everyone, feline or human if you walk passed her and don't acknowledge her. She will only drink running water and does not like cold temps or dogs, but will defend everyone in the house if a stray wanders thru her turf.
Ricky is the oldest male. He is skeert of BooBoo but owns the rest of the world. Your free hand is his and will not let it rest...PET ME! He loves to ride in the semi with the better half. He is a riot in there, especially after he sleeps all day and scares you at night!
Rocky is my Bud. He helps me get wood up from the basement for the fireplace. He helps me water plants and feed the birds...(more like baiting them). He wants to sleep under the covers but will settle to sleep behind my legs.
Then finally, there is Ted E. Bear. Mr cuddles and grandson of BooBoo. Deathly affraid of grandma! Right now he is my lap top cat. Restricting my right hand from moving to type. He is the portable doorbell. He will let me know when a cat wants in or if one is outside too long to call him in. Rocky is his uncle and best friend. In the morning, at the first sign of daybreak, he will come right up to my face when I am sleeping and "MEOW"...time for nummies(soft can of food they split daily)
Cat-itude and love them all !

***** personalities: What sort is yours?

If you want to be the best of friends with your cat you need to take account of his character. It's a bit like a dating game, says ANDREA McHUGH. Get it right and it could be a match made in heaven but if you don't there could be conflict ahead...

It could be a real bone of contention to try to describe your cat's personality. Even the word is liable to cause deep offence, especially to the sensitive feline soul. The problem is, 'personality' is constituted mainly of the word 'person', 'persona' or 'personal' - nothing remotely to do with a cat. Describing your cat's 'purrsonality' might be more diplomatic, especially if he's a neurotic type.

On a more serious note, it is useful to recognise your cat's personality as it offers an insight into how he may react. The dictionary definition of personality is 'character and temperament of an individual', while behaviour is defined as 'conducting oneself in a specific way'. So it would seem one limits the other. If you've got the personality of an 'It' girl you will be ecstatic thinking about a forthcoming party, whereas if you are an introverted, inhibited type you are likely to go into hiding until it's all over. It's just the same for cats.

Definitely, i have four cats and each one of them have such different personalities, Katie is def the diva of the lot, she will love you one minute and the next she will look at you as if you are something horrible that she trod on in my flowerbeds, Kitty is the most timid of the four she again can take or leave any attention that you may give her, Molly is the greedy one don't try and push her around or she will love to give you a smack with those hairy little hands!, Lily is very affectionate she will start purring even when she is just anticipating you giving her a rub. And Lily and Molly just hate men!! if you are a man and you dare to step in their way just beware!!!

Of course - each cat has its own purrsonality. The two I have at the moment are very different. Charlie is very handsome, and knows it - he loves looking at himself in the mirror. He also loves helping me make the bed, especially when I've just changed the bed linen. He thinks that's a cool game.
Layla, too, has her own little idiosyncrasies. She greets me with a yawn, and a wiggle of her rear end (no idea what that means!), and she loves sitting on cushions and plumping them, whilst purring her little head off.
One of my previous cats used to rush downstairs to greet me, and wouldn't let me in the house until I'd picked her up and put her on my shoulder so that her front paws went round either side of my neck, and she could give me a cuddle.

As long as they are treated with love and kindness, cats will give you the most rewarding of relationships. Actually, that can probably be said about any animal! ;-)

Yes, very much so. I think a pets personality reflects its owners personalitys to a certain degree. All the pets we've had have been VERY unique in thier personailitys, but everyone loves them. When we examine the behavior of our cat, we see similaritys in how we act & how he acts. So yes, our cat has its own personailty. He is very much unlike any other cats I have ever met expect for our last one...

They all do. My 3 are all so different but very loving in their own ways. The oldest will try to get on my plate when I'm eating, the middle 1 sits and gazes at me with such a loving expression and the youngest really is the baby. He lies the crook of my left arm just like a human baby.

YES! both of my cats. one is really dramatic and fiesty, the other is lazy and has an attitude. I can tell when my cats just dont want to be bothered. Just like that one person said, just like us humans just with more hair! some people think just because they are animals or a pet means that they can treat them any way they want to. Well if u mess with a cat when its not in the mood it is going to f*uck you up (excuse my language)

Yes. My cats have their own personality. Reno, the female, is a total diva! She knows she's gorgeous and she plays it up at every chance available to her. I catch her sitting in front of mirrors and loves attention from my guy friends. Dogs don't scare her either. lol. Reno is fearless enough to walk up to one.

My male cat is hilarious. He loves to play and stare at you all dreamy like.
