How long before the birth does mother dogs have their pups??


My dog is pregnant.She has just began making milk.How long will it be until she has her puppies? (I dont need an exact answer!Just an estimate)

Contact your vet asap. You might need medical advice during the whelping and your vet should be aware of this before any emergency erupts.

Milk might drop anywhere between 5 days or 5 hours before whelping, depending on the female. A female is pregnant for 63 days, on average. If you know what date she was impregnated, count forward 9 weeks for the best estimate of the due date.

9 weeks. Dear god if that woman's dog who was pregnant for 4-9 months has had pups she really wasn't paying an attention. I like this quote from a site best

a dog's gestation is about 60-63 days

Do you know when she was bred? If so, around 63 days from mating. If she is making milk now, it should happen sometime this week.

Congrats! I always love it when my dog's give pups :)
I'd say a couple of months, mabey 4-6-8. Somewhere between there.

it takes a dog about 6 to 9 weeks, it depends on how fast they produce, u cant really predict a time they just come out when they are ready
