As a fifteen year-old female, I find it very disconcerting to see people mistaking me for 20 and up. At school, a girl randomly walked up to me and said "How old are you? Cause, you look really old." I replied with a "How old do I look?" She said I looked 24. 24 years old, a full 9 years older than my actual age. Another man tried to speak to me, and older man, mind you. After I told him I had just turned 15, he said "I'm sorry." It's amusing, and it can come in handy at times, but it's not really a reputation I want to keep up. I'm not overweight, either, and I'm a junior in high school. What steps should I take to "look younger"? I know 15 is a very young age to start thinking about getting older, but wow. Do I really appear to be that old?
Thanks.

For those who are saying I'd be five, I meant "ten years younger" figuratively. Approximately ten years younger than twenty-four would be fifteen.
Thanks for the insightful responses.

Haha, I generally have the opposite problem. Even though I am nearly 21, I am still often carded at movie theaters. What I would recommend you do is let your hair grow long (it makes you appear younger--I got carded less frequently when my hair was short), don't wear a whole lot of make up, and make sure you "dress your age." That is, don't wear very skin-showing clothes (if nothing else, you will appear older to men in these) and try to wear something similar to what is in style. I don't mean you have to go around wearing Abercrombie or anything; just try to make sure you have a few popular clothing items in your wardrobe.
This may seem like a strange one, but smile a lot too. Not smiling makes people look older. I can't really explain why, but it does. Good luck!

When they say you look older, it means they think you look more mature. It's a compliment. I'd kill to be told that I look older than I am. I'm 16, but I'm only 5' 0", and people think I'm 12! (Besides, if you wanted to look ten years younger at 15, that means you'd want to look like a five-year-old.)

actually I had that same problem. The neat thing is as you get older...you look younger! so enjoy, be responsible and just make sure the "dirty old men" know you are only 15.

people tell me i look older, im 16 now and people tell me i look 19-20. It must be hard for you. Personally i just enjoy it. Maybe try Olay things, they have some great anti- aging creams and stuff. My mom and grandmother use them and they look much younger then they are.

Do you wear make-up. if you do wear less. Try to find hairstyles that make you look older. I am 14 (turning 15 soon) and when i go to restaurants they still give me the kids menu.

this happens to everyone when they are teens because you are maturing people used to come up to me and say the same things to me but what is important is don't care just be comfortable in your own skin it doesn't really matter just enjoy being 15 and do your own stuff rather than worry about this little problem believe me it happens to EVERYONE so just relax and just enjoy

umm i am sure its not everyone who thinks you look really older than you are. not wearing make up helps, also the type of clothing you wear can tell how old you are sometimes.
