Don't use regular slice bread for bread pudding-----you'll have better results using a french bread or maybe even a chiabatta.
You're gonna pour the "custard" over the bread and you want it to soak it up....thick sliced cinnamon would work good too. Paula Dean has a recipe for a bread pudding using day old krispy cream donuts. Haven't tried it yet. Good luck with your bread pudding!

The AVERAGE slice of bread weighs 3/4 oz (I just weighed it on my electronic food scale)

4 cups would = 32 oz

32 oz / 3/4 oz = 42.66 slices...the weight of your bread may vary!

Depends on how big the slices are.

Be specific.
By weight or by volume?
