I think your dad would really treasure a picture of the present family...he already has the memories (and possibly even the pictures) of the past...help him gather new memories, and I'll bet he'll enjoy your effort.

I think a special event from the past which means a great deal to him.......my daughter had my husbands fathers army picture matted and framed for him last Christmas. his father has passed away a few months before, and it was old and tattered... she has it fixed up with out losing its character....and it is now a treasured heirloom that will pass from one generation to another i am sure. my husband was very deeply touched by her thoughtfulness.

What a beautiful idea. i will tell you what I had planned for my Dad's Christmas gift. I was trying to find a photo of him and I. Unfortunately he passed away. I used to write him poems etc.
I would definitely try to find one of the two of ya. that would make me soooo happy if one or all of my kids did that for me later in life.
i think it is "The perfect gift" oh....that and - or a poem expressing to him how much he means to you.
You are very sweet.
good Luck,
~T~

A picture that has good memories for you and him since it will be from you.
You will know it's the one when you start looking through all your photos.
