Most cities will have no kill shealters, so you could try to find one of them. The truth is the last thing shealters like the humane society want to do is kill your dog, they are going to try there best to find your dog a good home. Putting down is only going to happen if the animal is sick or dangerous or in extreme cases of overcrowding. Also as a last ditch to get rid of the dog I would put an add on craigslist in the free section.

YOU ARE NOT GOING TO SELL HER

Sorry but it is true - there is no market for mixed breed adult dogs.

If you love her so much, why did you choose to move somewhere like that?? What you want is more important than her LIFE?????? Better you go live in a tent in a camground than let her be killed because you didn't plan.

Animal shelters typically have to destroy dogs that are not adopted in a very few days.

Call your local shelter and ask what their placement rate is. If they say 50% that means 50% die - and adults have the worst chance of being adopted and her breed is against her. It is the rare - and I mean 'rare' as 1 in 1000 - shelter that can place even 90% of the animals.

You can try to find a "no kill shelter" in your area but they are few and far between and typically quite full. Call your local humane society and ask them. Look in the phonebook. Even then you are condemming her to a wire run about 3 feet by 6 feet, sleeping on concrete, poor quality food, no bed or blanket, no toys and no love, and NO medical care - she gets sick,, she is killed.

BOARD HER IN A KENNEL IF YOU HAVE TO UNTIL YOU CAN FIND HER A HOME.

If that means you have to pawn everything you own, borrow frm everyone you know and give up the internet service and McD's, DO IT - you owe her that much. When you got her, you promised to love and care for her until she dies and now you are going to walk out on her and abandon her to strangers and break her heart and probably let her be killed.

Put up a note at your vet's.

Put ads in the paper - free, good home

Put up notes at shops with her picture

Offer to pay for her keep (food and bills) if someone will take her until you can find a placee to live where you can have her even if it is a year.

Call the Rottie breede rescue, they may help with a mixed breed that is 1/2 Rottie:

Go here and go down the list until you find them.

Call the regional and local Rottie breed clubs:

Why would you move to place that did not let you take your dog. It's not too late. Pick somewhere else.

I work in a no-kill shelter. This is the truth:

Animal shelters are no place to willingly leave your beloved pet. It is horrible, full of barking dogs day and night. The dogs are kept in small enclosures that are cleaned as often as possible, which is never enough. Food is not high quality in many shelters, and your dog will have to sleep on a concrete run. Your dog, being large and black, is likely to stay months or years if you choose a no-kill shelter. If you don't choose no-kill, and go to a kill shelter they can put your owner-surrendered dog down before you leave the parking lot. If you dog stays more than a few hours, he is likely to get kennel cough, or other illnesses that will put him under medical care for weeks. That is if the shelter you choose can afford medical care. Many will simply mark a sick dog as unadoptable and put it to sleep. He will be exposed to ticks, fleas, flies and worms if the shelter you choose does not do routine prevention.

The no-kill shelter I work with has a preventative medicine program, treats for parasites and provides as much space an comfort as possible to the residents. Still it is not like a home. NO shelter is ever as good as a home.

If you love you dog, start looking for a new place now.

I would not give her to the animal salter. They usually only keep them for 3 to 7 days. Depending on where you live. There are some NO KILL Shelters, but it depends on where you live, as to if there is one in your area. Plus they are filled up most of the time. And large adult dogs are hard to find homes for.

Is there any body you can give her to? Or a friend or relative who might take her? Of course you would not be able to sell her, she is a mixed breed.

Try putting up fliers - Free To Good Home

What I don't understand is why you would rent an apartment, in a building that will not allow your dog? But you are worried that your pooch might be put to sleep. That makes no sense.

I can't imagine giving up my pets that I love and care about, just to move. They are part of my family.

Also I have to add. Why do people who live in apartments get large dogs. Large dogs need room to run, play. They need exercise. And unless you take them for walks etc.. on a regular bases. They are not getting the exercise they need.

I'm not really sure why you would move into an apartment that you knew wouldn't allow you to have dogs. Of course you can't sell a mixed breed dog. Search Rottweiler Rescue and your state. http://a.webring.com/hub?ring=rottrescue This has some links but they should be able to take the dog or find someone who can. I suggest you don't get any pets in the future as well.

Find a different appartment if you like your dog. If you don't put ads in the paper and posters all over the place. Someone is bound to contact you sooner or later. You could ask your landlord if you could keep your dog for a little while until someone adopts him. Good Luck!

No, you cannot safely dump her at the shelter. Try to give her away to a good home. Visit the home, ask for references, and check up on them to be sure your dog is being cared for. Dumping her at the shelter is a death sentence.

You need to find a shelter that has a proven adoption program. There are some out there that are very humane, and will not kill the animal, ever.

TAKE HER TO A NO KILL SHELTER. AND ASK SPECIFIC QUESTIONS. ASK FOR A TOUR. IN CONWAY NH, THE SHELTER IS A NO KILL UNLESS THE ANIMAL IS MORTALLY INJURED OR ILL, OR IS SO AGGRESSIVE IT ISN'T SAFE TO ADOPT OUT. INSTEAD OF TRYING TO SELL HER, TRY GIVING HER AWAY TO A GOOD HOME.
