Sometimes religious folks like to argue that this life only has value as a prelude - a trial run, if you like - for heaven. However, if living is only worth doing if there is some end result to be achieved, then what is the point of an eternity living in heaven with no end result to look forward to?

It is also ruling & reigning on earth. There is going to be a new heaven and a new earth.

There's a lot to look forward to. The place you don't want to go would be hell or the Lake of Fire. The Lake of Fire (second death) is where there isn't anything to look forward to but pain & misery everlasting.

Icarus62, your question is a demonstration of circular logic.

An end result, past "an eternity living in heaven"? You may have a heretofore unposed question, ever, in history.

But I digress. Look~~ life continues on, after the physical death that we all see around us, be it as a ghostly spook, popular on Halloween, or as the studpup to 72 virgins, as a member of a Holy, eternal choir, or perhaps, to be reborn here in the physical again, to maybe get "it" right, to become a God yourself, and therefore compatable to the Creator God, looking to have some company for a change.

Still, your Initial question intrigues me: "What is the point of going to heaven?". Can you maybe offer some alternative to going to Heaven, to a Paradise, to be with and in awe of your Creator?
Maybe you would suggest, uh, Hell. Gehenna, the good old Lake of Fire, damnation, etc.
NO THANKS, I WILL STEER CLEAR OF HERE.

O~ maybe Nilhism? Nothingness, an immediate cessation of everything you ever were, you ever knew, you ever loved, you ever marveled at, ALL WIPED OUT, AT DEATH?

Dear soul, you are on the same path as all of us, but only at a different point along the way, and it's natural to wonder about what is next. Tell me, is it possible that one week from tomorrow, your family will be at YOUR funeral service, as a result of some unforeseen event? Will you be here for Christmas, '06?
was your last birthday, your last ever birthday??

The point I make is this:
Live, Believing and Knowing that there is more than just this life.
and if, just if, Jesus, the Christians, or the Mormans, or the Muslims, or the Buddhists ARE right, then what does it hurt YOU now to say a 'Hello, God, I Love You, and Thanks For what You have done For Me, Is there Something that I can Do For You, here??"

It takes so little, of us, to simply believe in God.

Often, some ask or demand proof of God, of an everlasting life.
But I put it to you here, IF you make such demands, require such proof of God's Existence,
Are You not making yourself out to be God, commanding, requiring His compliance? But, who are you....did you ever make a tree, or make Venus spin backward, or do You have the answer to Einstein's Law of Relativity? NO-- NO, YOU DON'T.
But 'SomeOne' does, and He created YOU, because He loves you. And wants you to spend eternity with Him, because again, He Loves You, His Child.

What other plans would you want?

Why eat if your only going to be full? Why get married and have children if your going to die? Why go to the amusement park and ride the rides if they scare you? Its not the end result but the journey that is important. We dont live to die, we live to grow and expierence the world and all that it has to offer. Heaven is a never ending place were anything is possible. I dont think i could ever get bored in surroundings like that do you?

The point of going to heaven is - Rev. 5:9-10 To rule with Christ as kings over the earth.

Matt. 6:9-10 Praying for God's kingdom (government) to come. His will to be done on earth as in heaven.

If God's kingdom in heaven will rule over the earth - there has to be someone to rule over.

Psalms 37:29, 34 Righteous people living on earth forever!

Psalms 37:9-11 No more wicked ones!!

Sounds good to me! I want to be on this earth living in abundance of peace!

I could see why you would think that way if you believed that you were going to heaven. You have to remember that when God purposes to do something, he always does it. What was his original purpose for man? To live forever on a paradise earth, not heaven. See Genesis 1:26-30

I agree. That is why I believe the next life will even more challenging. Each time we pass a test, we are get to move on to the next level. Flunkers live in an everlasting "Ground Hog Day" repetious, boring, never-go-anywhere Hell.

Bottom line: make this life heaven, make it last as long as possible, and then move on to the next level.

Good question... The point of living in heaven is that we'll enjoy an eternity with God... It doesn't get ANY better than that...!

Good question

But I think Heaven is a world which is quite like ours but its just eternal.

I think I would like to have a job and wat not too.

Edit: Oh and you get to see God ^^ and ask Him all kinds of things like how He created the universe. COOL!!

The end result is to re-join with your Creator from whence you originated which is sheer bliss.
