That people shouldnt do things because it will cause you or someone to fall? It doesnt make sense that people would set a standard religiously that may pertain to you but doesnt pertain to another individual.

Example:
One man is a drunkard another can handle his alcohol in moderation.

One person may overeat and food doesnt affect another person.

Looking at porn for a natural physical release, more casual not a big deal vs a person that allows it to control them and overtake their lives.

Why should I have to have a "rule" that isnt my weakness be applied to me. If I wana over eat a couple of times a month or go out and get drunk here and there with my buddies. Like in that scripture verse "Everything is permissable for me but may not be beneficial." Is it beneficial for me to have a 64" screen TV? no but I like it. Isnt it really up to you to know yourself and figure out what you should and shouldnt do as an adult?

We are not thees bodies. we think we are because we are in illusion. This material energy is impossible to overcome with out the guidance of one who has already concurred them. A spiritual master or Guide. You can try but you will only get so far. IF one wants to transcend the material world and go to the world of reality where there is no Birth Death Old age and Disease then their is a process. If you do not want to follow the process then we will see you in your next life and you will have to go through puberty, get sick, be criticized, loose loved ones through death and finally die. Its not a good deal. I choose to follow the process its just much easier

Yes. It really is up to you. At some point in every life, we each have to be responsible for ourselves. There are some rules we have to impose as a society to keep order- mainly laws against mistreating each other- and after that it is pretty much between you and your conscience. How else could a person commune with God, except for what her heart tells her is or is not right? It is up to each of us to know how to steer our lives, watch for our own unhealthy appetites, know what keeps us where we want to be. A smart human devotes a lifetime to learning. At some point, she has learned and is qualified to be self-responsible.

The rule doesn't apply to you except when that weakness and the list of others that you didn't list overtakes you and cause not only harm to you but to others that you may influence or look up to you.

Shalom

It is your decision to find yourself true, but if your saved and believe in God, your always trying, compelling others to come to the Lord, because you know without him nothing matters. So when you do things that arent Godlly and others(the lost)
see you and believed you were of God, They right away judge and dont want to believe...
Thats why it ALL about him, NOT YOU!
and yes its okay to have nice things and have a good time-
Whats wrong is when you idolize those things and put them before God.

because this is a culture of super safety and rounded corners. all precautions must be taken because there is no trust that people can handle things on their own. my brother has a problem with alcohol and can no longer drink it. i do not and i go out and drink socially. i'm not supposed to because it makes it 'harder' for him? coddling him and adjusting the world and making him feel 'special' is going to help?

life is full of difficulties and we should not shield people from the difficulties, but help them to accept them and deal with them on their own terms. without adjusting all the terms for the 'benefit' others.

Better question, why would you want to cause someone else harm?

If it's their weakness and you are only making it more difficult, why would you want too?

Yes, we do need to take responsibility for what we do. After all, one day...we will stand in judgment for all we do.
