if you accept the basis that >>"Jesus is the manifestation of the living word of God correct?"<< then your general idea is correct.
but in fact the very essence of the problem, is the EXACT behavior you are referring to.
it is indeed very easy for someone to accidentally fall into idolotry if they are provided an image. the definition between worshipping what the image is representative of, and worshipping the image, is far more complex, and difficult, than most people realize.
this is one reason why some people do not believe in Jesus, because they feel that God would not provide such an image, because it would give people too much tendency to have this problem.
look through the whole old testament... God never provides a discrete image for people to have as an image. everything is amorphous and/or abstract to one degree or another.
I think it would be better, and more accurate to see jesus as a realization of human potential, that Jesus was a role model to be followed of how to truly live in line with God.
Too many people hold jesus as an idol, and don't even realize it.

Jesus the man is the word of God. John chapter 1 establishes that Jesus was the word and the word became flesh and was manifest before humanity. Believers are to believe in Jesus, for in him dwelt the fullnes of God, bodily.

Good question.
If one truly studies the Bible and Jesus, then you cannot separate him from the Word of God because He is the Word of God.
It is not idol worship, because Jesus is God made flesh and He is part of the trinity. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit (The Godhead 3-in-1).
We are only reconciled to God through faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. Jesus said "If you had known me, you should have known my Father also ,and have seen him." (John 14:7) Jesus asked Philip, "he that has seen me hath seen the Father, Believist thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself,: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." (John 14:9-11)
Christians pray to God in the name of Jesus because we are only justified through accepting the atoning sacrifice of Jesus's blood for our sins. For Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

Nope......You need to study the Holy Trinity.
Praying to whatever name you give GOD, pleases GOD!
Believing in a power greater than yourself, actually keeps you grounded and appreciative of the gifts of the world. We just give english, or whatever language you speak, words for our belief in God! Different countries have different words for everything including their idea of GOD. I think God does not care what language we speak...or if we don't speak at all...and pray with our heart!
The Holy Trinity is: GOD Almighty, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit....all one and the same.....because God designed things that you cannot prove....and that's called Faith!

Jesus often admonished others when they tried to worship him and always insisted that the father was greater. See John 14:28. I agree that this could be a form of idolatry since you would be worshiping the creation instead of the creator.

I agree. And, as you said, Jesus IS the Word of God. But we as Christans, along with having to believe in the Word of God, must also believe in Jesus the man who walked on earth and died fore our sins. You can't worship one without worshiping the othere. :-)

I suppose it could happen that way to those who do not read the scriptures for themselves. But if they have read and understood, then they would know you are to pray to God the father in Jesus' (the savior, word made flesh) name.

You have not read your Bible. Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are ONE......the Trinity.
Just like steam, ice, liquid-water are all still H2O, even though they are different manifestations of the same thing.
