That's easy...just try to attempt this everyday. Your limbs and muscles have to adjust to it slowly, and doing stretches every day will make you more flexible with every day. When going down to split, go the farthest you can and hold for fifteen seconds. The next day try to go further and hold that sport for fifteen seconds and so on. It also helps if you stretch your whole body too. Try different stretches for your leg. The most important thing is that you don't bounce stretch, you can hurt yoursefl that way. And don't expect to do it in a day or two, probably closer to a couple weeks... You can try several times a day too, that might help. Well this is what I did before, and now I'm very very flexible! Good Luck!

at my dance school we:
-put 1 leg in front of the other and lunge and try to get as close as you can to the floor and then switch legs
-lie on your back with 1 leg up and 1 on the floor get someone to hold the 1 on the floor down and another person to push your raised foot towards your face but make sure you keep ur legs straight
at yoga classes we do this posture called a half cresent moon if you can get some pictures that would help you

this is actually quite simple. stretch, stretch, and practice. besides there isn't really a wrong way to do it unless you go all out the first time

I've heard you got to streach, it helps, and it wont happen over night, it's going to gradually happens because your tendons and your muscles have to learn to streach out in order for you to do that. Practice Yoga or Pilates!
