Organs Affected By Alcohol

Drinking affects your Liver. Since alcohol is so toxic, clearing it out of the system is a priority. And when the liver gets busy getting rid of alcohol, it gets behind in other functions, like maintaining stable blood-glucose levels to the brain. It takes a pounding in the process, too. Cirrhosis is a common result of long-term drinking, and one of the main killers of older drinkers.

And also it affects your Stomach too. Alcohol irritates the stomach lining, and vomiting is a particularly visible result. Heavy drinking can lead to stomach problems and ulcers but it can also have a big impact on your Central Nervous System. Alcohol depresses almost every brain function, from balance to breathing. And even though effects lessen as booze leaves the body, regular drinking raises tolerance, so that heavier drinkers can drink more without getting drunk. They do, that is, until liver damage reverses the process, which speeds up damage to the brain and the rest of the body.

REMEMBER YOU ARE WHAT YOU DRINK!!

Actually, drinking affects multiple organs - but I'm sure your teacher is looking for "the liver" as an answer.

Acute ingestion of alcohol results in a "fatty liver" which is temporary. It takes more than just one drink - usually we're talking binge drinking - i.e. several drinks in a short period of time. Occassionally, acute alcohol ingestion can cause alcoholic hepatitis, which is a generalized inflammation of the liver and can be fatal.

Over time, prolonged alcohol use leads to an irreversible fatty liver. All the damage to the liver cells may cause it to develop fibrous tissue and lead to cirrhosis.

Good luck.

You're looking for the liver as your answer, probably. That or the brain.

However, drinking affects every body organ long-term, too. In moderation, it's ok, but anyone who abuses alcohol can expect a shorter lifespan.

Drinking affects the bladder by helping to fill it up with excess water. Even so, drinking is healthy because it keeps you hydrated...especially just plain water.

OH!!... "DRINKING"
Right.
Uh...it affects the gloin by making it unable to produce salphides?
