I guess it's kinda like we won the war,but losing the battle..We've never had to fight an enemy like this where there is total guerilla activity,so many different militias from different sects, tribal warlords,no real chain of command to the enemy. At least in prior wars, the squeeze could be put on until it affected the top leadership, but in Iraq with each different area having its own militia-where do you start??....divide up the country??.....nuke the whole thing??....cut and run and have the terrorists feel victorious......so many people give Bush grief as the popular thing to do,but no one has ever faced an enemy like this.....we all thought after Hussein's republican guard army was defeated,we could leave shortly therafter......Maybe Iran and Iraq could get into another conflict as before, but now it seems they're essentially the same now with Iran supplying so much to the militias.........Anyone have any good ideas???!!!!!

No, we went into a country and toppled their government. We had no right to do that and we went under false pretenses. The head of state was a dictator but that does not give us the right to invade their country. Now they have a civil war going on and there are 2 sides fighting for control. We caused this problem and like it or not we have a responsibility to fix it. Our government did not consider many factors such as a history of sectarian violence, the fact that they are not used to being ruled by a coalition of different factions. In that part of the world when a dictator takes power he stays in power until he is toppled and another one takes his place. They are not used to the idea that there is another chance for power in 4 years, they are used to the idea that this President will be in power until he is assassinated and if you are unlucky enough to be a member of the other party, religion, sect etc you may not see that day. This is the history in most of the the third world countries, they have fake elections and the group not in power faces persecution, genocide, etc. We didn't consider this when we went in there and now they are paying the price for our governments and Presidents mistake (lies).

I agree. What we are trying to do is bring in a new government in Iraq and it's not working....and did you read today's news? A bomb went off killing some 29 people and hurting about 60 others.

Americans are always fighting someone, and making up names like 'war on terror" which outside the US translates to "US war on greed" as for aussie's, well our prime ministers tounge got stuck up Bush's a*se so we were dragged along! wont be long though mate and the aussie public will win the battle to bring our boys home and little Jonnie Bush Howard will be out on his ear.

Would you rather fight the terrorists here in the USA, or in another country?
