On one hand religion needs to be talked about and on the other so many people abuse it.
I do enjoy when people I disagree with are so civilized in their communication. I do come across those gems and find it gratifying. It gives me hope. azra_981 is one example. She and other Muslims have expressed the most loving affection to people of other faiths calling them "brothers and sisters".

Jesus gave us the Beattitudes that may apply to anyone of any belief or faith:
Blessed are those who know they are spiritually poor;
the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them!
Blessed are those who mourn;
God will comfort them!
Blessed are those who are humble;
they will receive what God has promised!
Blessed are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires;
God will satisfy them fully!
Blessed are those who are merciful;
God will be merciful to them!
Blessed are the pure in heart;
they will see God!
Blessed are the peacemakers;
They are the children of God....

pops,

I am guilty too. At times my emotions get carried away and I embarrass myself. So, I decided to try to control myself a little more. Could it be the Irish or Italian in me? lol

Sammy,

I thank you. I have discovered many Muslims who are hard on people who disrespect any religion and I find that such a redeeming quality. I think that there are people in all faiths who only pick and choose what they want out of the Holy Books instead of the whole. By doing so they pervert the essence of the faith.

2 Corinthians 4:7-9
But we have this treasure in jars of Clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on everyside, but not crushed; Perplex but not in despair; persecuted but no abandoned, struck down but not destroyed.

James 1:2
Consider it pure joy my brothers when facing trials of many kinds,

I think it is inspiring to encounter people of different faiths and of different mind sets than I because it gives me a better perspective of the world and how greatful I am to have so a Loving God. Jesus says to go out into the world and make disciples of all nations. I believe that you have to a real life understanding of one culture and lifestyles not a text book; you have to experience things first hand. So since i cannot yet go out unto the world, i rely on this place to get a better understanding of different religions and of different world view.

I love the Beattitudes!! theyre amazing!

Jehovah's Witnesses are footstep followers of
Christ and NEVER tell anyone that they will burn
in Hell, in fact they share the scriptures which show
what hell actually is~ mankind's common grave...
Also,JW's are happy to discuss the parables Jesus
used to teach those who would listen...
Example : Rich Man and Lazarus.
Anyone who KNOWS the True God (John 17:3)
is also aquainted with His attributes/personality/purpose/
and BELIEVES that GOD is the PERSONIFICATION
of LOVE... No eternal 'tormenter'... that's just what
Satan wants you to think, to keep mankind blind to the
wonderful truths about Jehovah God.
The doctrine is false, useless ...It doesn't even keep
people 'in line' as some think
(Prisons are full of persons who believe in hellfire)
The one thing which motivates Christians to serve God
is LOVE, not fear of torment.
JW's are servants of God, but FREE from such
God-dishonoring doctrines...
One more reason that false religion has to GO,
as shown in Rev 18 ...
JW's truly love God and their neighbors. Some may
appear over-zealous,even pushy at times, but it's
the way ANYONE who knew the cure for AIDS,CANCER,
and all other dreadful diseases would act !!!
If YOU knew actually knew the CURE, you'd be shouting
from the rooftops & if they didn't listen, you'd keep trying,
because YOU knew it was lifesaving !
Same with JW'S, they KNOW the CURE for EVERYTHING
is GOD'S KINGDOM ...That's the GOOD NEWS Jesus taught~
Today, JW's have important news in the TRACT being distributed
around the globe.
PS Hope you will examine all of the message.... Agape

I find as a Muslim, I'm very subject to abuse from other religions, even though I HIGHLY respect all other religions, and am hard on people who disrespect any religion in the world.

I thank you for having an open heart and accepting Muslims for the people they are, not what religion they follow. And any person who seems to be as self respecting as you deserve to be called a brother

To be perfectly honest with you, I experience neither. I think that's because I'm so used to cynics or even worse, obnoxious idiots who just feel like typing, I tend not to take too much of what I see on "Answers" seriously. Also because there is such a degree of anonymity that you never know who's being truthful.

That being said, though, I am encouraged to see that there are still people out there who are conscious of their spiritual needs, and I enjoy being able to help someone who may be searching. :)

I feel we need to take the good with the bad. Unfortunately religion sparks a great debate and many seem to be able to agree with each other. It is inspiring to see how much faith some people have though

Most of what I read is derogatory, or at minimum, not very constructive. God's passion is for every soul, and we should have no less of a perspective, Truth does not change, but compassion, listening, and being able to explain your beliefs are all part of the Creator's expectations for us.

And I'm guilty as charged sometimes for blowing off one-liners.
Forgive me....

very good verses. demeaning me personally makes me more inspiring, the more my faith become stronger, the more i embrace my beliefs, the more my spirits uplifted. demeaning is a challenge of faith and beliefs,and i think its healthy, because you can feel within yourself the determination of believing that Gods words have important part to your daily life. nobody can take away the undconditional love of god to you.

Unfortunately, the very good remnant that's on here outweighs the majority of evil that is presented daily on here demeaning all faiths. I look forward to the Godly remnant that inspires me. Great question!

I've found most on this board to be completely demaening--which is sad--before I got on here I really respected christianity, thought it taught values --but after being told more times than rain man can count that I am going to hell, it becomes a very hateful and ugly religion

Actually, I find it inspiring in the sense that everytime I meet someones who uses their religion to justify intolerance or hatred, it reminds me of what I used to be, and reminds me that the path I am on now is much better.
