Well the word means "little Christ" because we are supposed to be representing Christ in earth (and yes a lot of times it is a MIS representation)
Cutting through all the Cliche's that come to mind I will say this
A Christian is a person (any person) who accepts the gift of eternal that Jesus Christ purchased on the cross with his life, in order that they might be cleansed from sin. Not that they never sin, but that the blame and guilt is now taken care of by Jesus Christ.
First and foremost it is a choice. Not a certain breed of person.
It means being forgiven, it means being a friend of God.

following the teachings of Christ and believe that he is your Personal Savior! Believe he died for your sins! Build a personal Relationship with Jesus. Treat everyone as you would others to treat you! Some Christians don't really follow that one because they sometimes let their minds take them over into something different and they can hurt someone! That is wrong! we As Christians need to pay attention to themselves alot more! I'm saying this as a Christian myself!

It means to have the mind of Christ. And THAT means to follow his perfect example in the way we treat others and ourselves. But that means we need to do research and seek out exactly what that means. His teachings involved the mind, not only the heart.(John 17:3)

Christian means a follower of Christ. Believeing in Jesus as the Savior, and striving to live your life as much like him as possible. Following the ways of the bible, and having a close relationship with him.

To have faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and to believe that He died so we could be forgiven. Christian can mean "little Christ," meaning we are supposed to follow Him and His teachings, and show our faith through actions not just words.

Believing whatever fool idea people tell you to believe in, and defending that belief - preferably to the death, because then other Christians say nice things about you, and who wants to hang around here anyway?
