ELMO is a company name. The manufacturer produces electronic equipment. One of the products they sell is called an "ELMO". It is a variation on the old overhead projector, but you don't need to use a transparency. It will project whatever is placed under the lens.

Extreme Light Magnification Output ?... me and my brothers grew up in the 50's/60s' with something like that called a "MAGNA -JECTOR".it looked like a bulky hand held spotlight.the bottom was open, you placed it on top of a picture, or anything that could stand the heat of a 60watt bulb.some times we put it on each others heads, or the dog.(dont try this at home!no animals were hurt! we on the other hand, bbuhhhaaaahahaa!).the light was in back, pointing down to the image.it reflected up to a mirror, that was angled to point the light foward, through a lense that you adjusted for the distance from your screen or wall.

ELMO COMPANY LTD - 80+ year old company in the optical presentation industry. Not much info on their web as to how the company got it's name. Seems to be an industry leader in their field though. They have a very extensive and interesting product line. They have several sites, ELMOUSA, ELMOEUROPE and another in Japan. All dot com's of course.
