Does the man want children and the financial support to raise them to gratify himself or does he want children and the financial support to raise them so that he can raise them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord so that they will follow the Lord Jesus Christ and can serve the Lord and spread the gospel of Christ?
If it is the former then it is a selfish prayer, if it is the latter then it is an honorable prayer.

As a child asks his parents for things that he wants all his life; the same way you being a man, God is your parent and asking from HIM cannot be called as selfish behaviour. But I also completely believe in 1 thing & that is. . . . .
GOD answers your prayers in 3 ways. . .
- HE says YES & gives u whatever U asked for.
- HE says NO & gives you something even better
- Or HE says WAIT & gives u the best in his own time.

Of course not. In fact, it shows that you need to rely on God for financial support and help raising HIS children.
God wants us to petition Him, to open our lives up to Him. God is a loving God who seeks to give you good gifts.
Im not saying God will make you wealthy and your kids will be OK.
I believe that wealth gets us into a lot of trouble, and without a little sickness here and there, then we would take God for granted. But God definitely has your best interests in mind. We are supposed to be open, candid, and reverent with God. Even if you cant say it, God knows you've been needing financial support and help w/ the kids because His Spirit interprets our every groan.
remember: financial support does not equate being rich.

No, it is not selfish and it depends on ur motives for as asking for children and financial support to raise them. My Husband and I could have children and if we even had children we couldn't afford them because of our finances but we believed God for both and he answered. God honored my prayers because my Husband wanted a son and wanted to live his inheritances to someone of his same blood. God bless.

It looks like you have enough opinions that you can pick the one you like...However, God repeatedly tells us to ask for things. We should not, of course, demand things. Every prayer that you make is made with the understanding that God may not grant you that request. As Jesus prays, "They will be done."
The other question, then, is why are we to ask God for things? Because when you do not ask, you are then intending to rely on yourself for your needs and begin to forget that God is the giver of all good things.
By the way, it's not like you're asking for a Ferrari or anything...;-)

I don't think it's selfish at all. In this life everything we do is in service to All That Is. Asking for children to love and a way to support them seems like a wonderful thing to ask for. It beats asking for the lottery.

Its ok to ask GOD for anything. I have found in my prayer life, if I am honest with myself and GOD the answers become very clear. I have even become mad at GOD and asked him if he could just let me come home to heaven (die) because I let his work for me here get to me. The key to prayer is honesty. GOD does say no. The same way we tell our kids no because we know it is not good for them.
May GOD richly bless you

Prayer is usually selfish. It's a means of making yourself believe you are doing something without actually having to lift a finger.
One man with a shovel can do much more than a million people praying.

If your prayer is in line with God's will it is good and proper.
All good prayer is both self i s h and self l e s s.
Pray and see what happens.
God is a family man at heart.
He knows what you need and he already plans to provide for you.
