Serial Killer: "Ma’am, I’m sorry. I don’t know. I don’t understand what happened….It was a nightmare. I was tormented in my mind and in my spirit. My life was out of control at that time and I have nothing but regret for what happened.”

Parole Board: “What was this torment?”

Serial Killer: “It was just my mind was not focused right. I thought I was a soldier for the devil and all kinds of crazy things…I had things like the satanic bible that I was reading. I just got stupid ideas out of it. I’m not pushing the blame on anything. I take full responsibility, but I just – at the time things got twisted.”

Anyone believe in demonic possession?

Hi, I think virgo, libra and scorpio make the best serial killers. Dare I say Libra first? I know there's gonna be lots of protests - but the sociopathic libra has no sense of justice, is extremely agile and clever and covers up all their tracks nicely. I would say scorpio first, but then scorpio's intensity would make them a prime suspect first up. The virgo killer is good with details, but I don't think they're liable to kill serially unless there's a good reason. Oh, but the virgo killer is good at planning and knows how to make a "clean" exit, as well as kill the victim the quickest - without much blood and gore. The worst would unfortunately be the fire signs.... Leo would basically not be able to keep undercover for long; Aries would probably miss out some details and get caught, while Sag would leave all their tools at the crime scene. So yes, libra and scorpio.

It is a paradox. If you sit in the parole board's position, you must find some conviction that he is no longer a menace to society, in order to release him. If he isn't a menace and you keep him locked you act unfairly. If he is but you don't recognize it you are doing a wrong believing to do a right. So you need a criteria.
- You seem to believe that the criteria or sign for conviction would be "examining ones conscience". But this requires doing wrong, acknowledging it and regretting the deed. The quotes do not allow me to belive this is what happened.
- Another criteria could be "coming back to your senses" as in temporary insanity. This would imply that he acted upon influences that were not under his control. There's no "conscience" in the actions, so you can't expect later examination of the deeds.
The question is if he really has changed enough to reject previous behaviour and now embraces new ways of dealing with things.
Still, the quotes are not enough to be sure of anything.

I don't buy it. It sounds like he's trying to use the insanity excuse to go free.

Also, there's no way he could have gotten the message to go and kill people from the Satanic Bible. The reason? According to the Satanic Bible, there is no devil. And they (Satanists) focus on life, not death. Anyone who has ever read the Satanic Bible would know this.

Are you saying that because the killer is blaming satan, but SAYING that he's not blaming satan, that it really must be the work of satan? Don't you think that this man has to have a devious mind just to be able to pull off a series of murders before getting caught? Richard Dawkins said that we should be open minded, but not so open minded that our brains fall out!

the point of the post is to say demonic spirits caused this?

i think it is a really nice scape goat to have if you ever do feel the urge to kill people.

To kill someone you have to have a specific state of mind, and truth be told it isn't as hard as most might think. All you have to basically do is believe whole heartedly that the person is inferior and have a thirst for blood.

People's minds can get warped pretty easily, I mean the Pope has used the crusades to kill tons of people.

Sounds to me like once he got a away from the satanic bible his mind cleared and he realized what he had done.

Just another religious nut affected by religion. Other serials killers have said that God told them to kill people.

yes i think he has. He has thought about what he did. How it happened. He has found out what led him to it and he probably wont look to those things again. And he knows what he did was wrong.
