My friends and I want to go to Denver by road. I was wondering about the weather, traffic road conditions and the like. We plan to rent an SUV for the trip, can some one help me with some tips and ideas for my trip? Please let me know if this is a crazy idea as well...

My sister and I did it two years ago...actually we went from Modesto, California area to Boulder, Colorado.

I don't think it's a bad idea at all, I actually had a LOT of fun. My advice is burn some fun CDs because it's hours on the road.

There weren't all that many other cars on the road when we went (I don't think we hit traffic at all), and conditions weren't that bad. There were some areas that had snow/ice on the road, but for the most part it was good weather. We went up into Wyoming and then dropped down, but you don't have to do that. When we were in Wyoming it was really windy--ridiculously windy. We got blown across the road a couple times.

Other than that, try not to waste time. You don't want the trip to take any longer than it has to. That is, unless you want to do sightseeing and stuff. But if you're going for speed, then don't take unnecessary stops--go to the bathroom, buy snacks, etc. when you fill up for gas. Get lots done at the same time.

I hope you have fun! If you need anything else just ask!
