i just joined my school's gym and they have a pool. i am going to go tonight with a guy friend who is very accepting and a nice person. i have an attitude that when i take off my towel and reveal my bathing suited body, that i am totally fine with the way i look. this is despite the fact that i am about 20-25 pounds over weight (i am 5'3" and 160 lbs). am i wrong to be so proud of my body, or should i worry about it/only take off my towel when i am two inches away from the water, ready to get in lol)

i don't know if ppl are like "whoa she shouldn't flaunt it cuz it's not that great" or if they don't even care. please share your thoughts

Don't worry about it. It is important that you feel good about yourself. No one cares about what other people think and you shouldn't either.

I am also 5'3" and weigh 160.. and i do triathlons totally clad in spandex. its how you carry yourself that matters. If you are healthy, then who cares what you look like. I wouldnt be vulgar, like wearing a skimpy 2-piece, but i wouldnt do that even if i weighed 40 lbs less either.
Most people don't care, and if they do, then they are too shallow for you to value their opinion..

Wouldn't be a problem here in the USA where most of the people are overweight. Would be a problem in S. America, Asia and Europe.

Other people don't care. Even if they did, if you don't care what they think, then whatever, do what you want and what makes you happy. Seriously, in a country of seriously OBESE people... your 20 pounds overweight isn't going to raise ANY eyebrows.

its great that you have confidence in the way that you look. and there is no reason why you shouldn't. don't worry about what other people think. ever. and when yo go swimming, you are supposed to wear a swimming suit. thats what they were made for.

if you haven't had any problems before now, what difference should it make that you are going with a "guy friend" never change your behavior for a guy...just be what you always have been and if you are going to the pool people are expected to wear swimsuits, and people expect to see people in swimsuits,,,so don't worry about it

Be yourself!! If you are happy with how you look..you shouldn't have to hide that in fear of what others say!!! We can't change the way others view us we can only change the way we view ourselves...so just be you and be proud of who you are!!!

If you're not uncomfortable with your looks, then don't hide them. I'm way fatter than you (5'5", 230), and I know I don't look that good, but I don't care, so I don't hide my body. Don't worry about what other people think.

Be happy with how you look and show your body to the world.

Not sure. Depends on your confidence level, but i would worry more on your guy friend. But, to lose weight, become a strict veggetarian. No meant, dairy, or bread or anything. JUST FRIUTS AND VEGGIES AND WATER!
