Further to my orther question.
I dont think Americans are seen as foreign in Ireland.
I do think they should take the oppertunity to travel and work in a friendly country.
We are only across the pond.

I'm American and Married to an Irish woman. I don't think most English speaking people are very different from one another. Shared culture and geneology. We definately have more in common than differences. I met her on a student visa in Chicago.

As for why American's don't travel or work outside the U.S., I can think of 2 main reasons. #1 Our country is HUGE, so much to see on this side of the pond, and it's much cheaper to travel domestically. #2 Wages are generally higher here.

My wife went to Trinity for Biochemistry and makes more as a teacher than she would there with her degree. Example: Her best friend only gets E10/hr as a geneticist starting wage (also a Trinity grad). As a teacher, my wife earns $38k with 3 months off per year.

I wish all people traveled more. Maybe we'd all realize that we are all fundamentally the same.

And a beautiful country, I can attest. And wonderful people live there, from my experience. Everywhere you drive there are these ancient towers and structures that aren't even treated specially. There will be modern parts of homes built onto the side of something that has to be a thousand years old. Over here they'd rope it off and charge admission!

I'm glad your economy is going well again!

My great-grandmother was Irish so I'll probably visit one day. What kinds of jobs do you have there anyway? I heard the beer is awesome.
