Do you have any easy, cheap organizing tips that you would like to share with me? I want to organize but I don't want to have to buy a lot of that overpriced organizing stuff they have. Thank you. :-)

Step one: get rid of what you don't need

Step two: think about whether you are a vertical or horizontal organizer. The traditional vertical organizer finds file folders in a drawer a terrific thing. Horizontal organizers need to see what's available. This will inform how you organize.

Step three: Think about what your goals are for a specific space. Office? crafting? playroom? What are the top 3 functions it must have to succeed in your eyes?

Step four: Whatever you think is top function for the space gets the most organizing. If you spend money, this is where the majority of it goes.

So, what I'm saying is (I guess) don't just organize to organize. Organize to make a successful area.

I recommend the New Messies Manual by Sandra Felton. It really helped me pull my act together. Even better, it has sections to help those who have ADD or other challenges that make it hard to stay on track.

Don't use it, lose it! It is really surprising how much stuff we have that we don't use! Never leave a room empty handed! When you get up to go into the kitchen, bring anything with you that needs to go there, same with every room. Keep like things together! There is no bigger frustration knowing you have something and can't find it. Keep all the desk items together, all cooking utensils together, all cleaning products together, etc! Have fun in your new home!

shoe boxes. Most of the time you can get some empty boxes from a local store. decorate them with contact paper and you can by those cheap litte metal tags so you can put apaper in them to see what they are. If you have not used it in a year, throw it out or donate. once you do that, you will be surpised how much space you have.
