Is your DVD player mechanically capable of burning DVDs in the first place? If not, no software in the world will make that player burning capable.

There is no such thing. Playing a DVD requires entirely different circuitry and a different type of optical head. Sorry but if you want to record DVDs, you need to buy a DVD recorder, either stand-alone (sort of like a VCR), or one that works with your PC. Since you are probably not very tech-savvy (based on the question asked) I suggest a stand-alone. Don't buy cheap though. take the cheapest price and the most expensive and buy something about mid way between them. With these, you most definitely get what you pay for.

Why do you think they call it a "player"?

Can you burn a CD with your CD player?
Can you transmit on your FM receiver?
