If he hacking and wheezing after exercise? Continuously? Off and on? My beagle would hack and wheeze after exercise . . . we were told it was due to her weight issues. The vet called what she was doing "a reverse sneeze" and it could be remedied by covering her nostrils and making her breathe from her mouth.
If your dog's breathing is continuously bad, a vet check might not be a bad idea.

Get your dog to the vet as soon as possible the longer you leave it the worse it could become, sure you don't want to wake up to find that your dog has had a heart attack. My Dog coughs all the time even though he is on medication, he is suffering from heart failure!and visits the vet twice a month for a medication review.he cant be cured but it improves his quality of life until the day comes when i will have to let him go.

It really depend on how it sounds like and how old is your dog. My dog started wheezing last week and I brought him to the vet. The vet said he is too young (17 weeks old) to develop asthma or allergy and it is not collapsed trachea. The vet said it most probably is reverse sneezing or mild viral infection which would clear off on its own in a week or two. Check your dog for flu or kennel cough as well.

it depends on wheter or not your dog has allergies. if she is allergic to something around her or him then it could be normal. if your dog is not allergic to anything then you need to see a doctor soon. your dog could have kennel cough or heartworms both are hard to cure and expensive to cure. see a vet soon. with kennel cough the will cough insistenly and act like they are going to vomit and can't breath and it is HIGHLY contagious. if it is heartworms then your doctor will tell you the best treatment. if your dog is low antigen positive for heartworms talk to your doctor about putting her on heartgard for a year and it may take care of it. i worked at a vets office for years and have seen it work on many dogs. but get your dog checked out soon.

my dog kind of hocks a lugie from time to time but he has cancer :( and he also breaths very heavy. soon he won't be in pain though :( but with ur dog why not try a doctor? or go to www.dogbreedinfo.com and look up the dog and look under "sicknesses" to see what your dog can catch.

Depends on what kind of dog it is. If it is a Chihuahua, then it could be a collapsed trachea, this is very common in Chihuahua's. Still, you need to him to see a vet.

No... take him to a vet immediately... he could be choking, gagging on something he has swallowed, have a respiratory problem, heart murmur. Just go to your vet asap they will give you a proper diagnosis.
