Because for many, it's more about tradition and following the masses than for personal study and accountability. It's takes time and effort to get to know about the history and doctrine , not to mention to have to sort thru all the different beliefs, ideas, philosophies that have spread around like wildfire. Religion today is a lot like a buffet where people can pick and choose what they want to believe and practice. To find out what worship is acceptable to God requires one actually praying, studying, reading, comparing verses, and meditating on them. Many different groups offer bible studies, so a person should carefully examine which churches actually understand the bible and practice what they preach. Jesus said u can judge a tree by its fruit. He also promised that the Good news of the Kingdom would be preached in all the inhabited earth and then the end would come. Matthew 24; 14
This verse helps explain your question too. Remember that the apostle is talking to Hebrew Christians who should have been well versed in the holy scriptures and their beliefs. Hebrews 5; 11 - 14
11We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. 12In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. A complex mind will have hard time time finding what is true around him. A simple mind can easily grasp the meaning the of the water passing through his mouth..it quenches his thirst.

Some just aren't grown up enough, I guess they just haven't earned their spiritual wings to be understanding, they are stuck in perpetual spiritual infancy, remaining in diapers and booties. The reason is that they never intended to grow.
Spiritual growth is not automatic. It takes an intentional commitment. You must want to grow, decide to grow, make an effort to grow, and persist in growing. Discipleship- the process of becoming like Christ-always begins with a decision.

Because religion was born to explain things to simple minded people. It took place in the past where people arent as developed as we are today. Today, people are born into and sort of forced into it by their parents. People must have some explanation for everything.

We are to have faith like a child, so therefore would it not seem appropriate for it to be simple-minded? As far as a previous answer of "brainwashing" can we please come up with something new? Some people actually do their own searching and researching so to say that we're "brainwashed" by our parents isn't true.

Hmm you forget how people can be simple minded in relationships when the answer is right in front of them they simply ignore it....so generally speaking we all can be simple minded in different areas of our lives.

Could you please name a atheist organization that is feeding the poor building houses for the homeless or sending food to the third world PLEASE tell me I really would love to know. The truth is when you get off your smug high horse God or not ,WHO are the ones TRYING to make this world better. Its not you. Your just sitting back on your RICH and you are RICH compared to the rest of his world if you own a computer or have the education to work one and DOING NOTHING BUT JUDGING OTHERS AND YOU HAVE BECOME THEM> Your are the one in a religious war. Your doing the worst man kind can do. Judging others., But you are doing nothing to feed anyone. AND IF YOU DO it is through a religious organization there is no way it can be otherwise cause atheists don't feed kids. That is what matters and the starving and the poor are sick OF YOUR RELGIOUS or not Relgious WAR its just another war. Try doing something besides telling others how to think. A child dies of disentary just about every 5 minutes so do it quick.
