I understand everyother type of tax. Except income tax.
Why should someone be charged directly from their income? It's completely unfair. I'm sure there are better reasons, I'd like to know them.

Ok. Good, you understand the concept of tax. Income tax is supposed to be that the poor, who have less, get taxed less. The rich, who have more, get taxed more. If we had a good president, it'd seem a lot more fair.

An income tax is also known as a federal income tax. It's what helps support the federal government. The property taxes that a person may pay support the local government; sales taxes help support the state government (if a state has a sales tax); social security taxes support (obviously, social security).

Every school, road, bridge, Social security, VA and soldiers upkeep and hospital care, Congress, the Senate, the Supreme Court , the President(and everyone that works for all of those people)...Homeland Security( the BIGGEST project ever started by any US president)almost every school college and park every drop of water you drink every toilet you flush every drop of water that runs into a drain in a street, the drains and what is under the street...airline safety..all the police, firemen, water patrol, national guard...want more??? because there is more...lawyers, clerks, judges, courthouses all the people that are employed by those people...all the people NOT paying ERs because they cannot afford medical care..want more...grow up or move somewhere where you do not pay for all that stuff..want more?? there's LOTS more that taxes pay for...

If I underatand your question you mean, why is income taxable? I think it has to do with paying for the priviledge of living in a country where a free market society is sustaining people.

Your income tax pays for police, fire, ambulance, hospital and school. Fed govt provide grant to state and who in turn provide to twp.
Some of your money goes to congressmen/senators to fill their pockets too.

Because we like roads? And schools? And public hospitals? And it all has to be payed for in some way?

Just think, today, we pay one million dollars for one convict in prison! But, back to your question, think also about paving the highways, etc. pay your way...through this govenment arrangement. It is the LAW of the LAND!!!!!!!!

because the govt dont trust you to pay up and so they take it. and so they can waste your income on what they want and they have no shame on what they spend it.
