Im using studio lights, that are providing enough light (or not), my f stop is set above 4 and yet i still get this effect on the shots im taking.
The subject is a stainless steel box, with black plastic corners, the effect is occuring on the shiney chrome pieces, and where the black and the metal meet., the background is solid white. the camera is a sony cybershot, 7mp
Any help would be greatly appreciated
thankyou

What you have is chromatic aberration. It mainly occurs in high megapixel camera's, the photosites are more packed together, and your camera's sensor "fills up" with too many electrons, therefore subject to spilling over onto eachother to create a sensor bloom. It usually occurs when you have great contrast , such as highly backlit scenes. You might want to try a gray background, something that wont contrast so much with the box.

I would concur that you are running into chromatic abberation, again one of the reasons why having a camera with changeable backs that can shoot both digital and film is ideal. The best soluition to this problem is take the image into photoshop, select the sponge tool (select desaturare and choose a smaller brush size), and desaturate the green areas. Sounds like a lot of work, but it could be worse, try photographing nylon mesh on speakers with your digital camera, the overlapping of mesh and pixels produces a bizzare moire effect which in the end has to be totally recreated in photoshop.

It is one of the many faults with digital camera. Perhaps only one company that produces digital camera has a solution. Rollei uses Leitz (Leica) glass and supposedly they have created a coating that removes at least a part of that.
