Because people might not know you're just looking at their clothes, and their clothes is none of you beeswax anyway. They might think you're staring at a booger on their nose or something. So I'd recommend not staring at people. It makes you look like a freak.

I think that's a good question. I also think it matters more in some cultures than others. For instance, I almost got my @$$ kicked a couple times in jr high for "staring" at african americans (I really wasn't staring, I was just really spacey). But I don't even notice when people stare at me. I think its rude to point or glare, but staring is just looking really.

Well we are primates and staring in ape culture can get you beat up by the head gorilla. Its the same with Dogs that are also social animals. Staring is a very primal act. It is a violation of personal space.

Because you got a staring problem if you constantly stare. You can't be staring at clothes because I tried that and the person thought I had a staring problem because that person can afford Juicy Courture & Bloomingdales and I can't. It is RUDE!!!!

some people are just insecure and petty. Sometimes Im starring and not even realize im doing it-it just happens. People need to relax. When I catch someone starring i usually just smile-they will either look away, smile back or keep starring cause they are lost in their thoughts and not even starring at all. Stop being so uptight people!!!!! :)

It's totally rude to continuously stare at someone. How would u feel if somebady did that to u? Wouldn't it make u self-conscious?!

Doesn't matter what you are looking at it's RUDE! It makes the other person feel uncomfortable. They don't know why you are staring at them!

'cuz some people are really.......'careful' about the way they look. Or cuz they think that their all 'big 'n bad' and if you look at 'em, they'll say 'what you lookin at?' or 'STOP LOOKIN' AT ME!'
So basically, it's because people wanna look tough 'n stuff!
