Ear plugs might help you, but they won't help your wife. Snoring is not a joke, and it's not just a nuisance.

Snoring is often a symptom of a serious disorder called sleep apnea. This can damage your heart and even kill you. She needs to go to a sleep clinic without delay - ask your doctor to refer her.

In most cases apnea can be 100% eliminated by the use of a night breathing machine called a CPAP. It might take a night or two to get used to it, but then she will not only not snore AT ALL anymore, she will feel much better during the day, too.

She should not delay in seeing a sleep specialist - it's very important! Contrary to what many people believe, you do NOT have to be overweight to have sleep apnea.

Try an online search for custom ear plugs and see if that helps. And you might want to try wax ear plugs that mold and shape to your ear canal. At the market or pharmacy. By all means, your wife should be seen for the snoring. I agree that it may mean obstructive sleep apnea and is potentially dangerous to her. A sleep study (polysomnography) will be revealing. She can be seen by either a pulmonologist or an ENT. If the C-PAP (or a Bi-PAP) doesn't correct the problem (and the devices can be poorly tolerated), it may be correctable surgically, in which case, the ENT will come in handy as they are usually head & neck surgeons as well.

You should think more about helping your wife. If she snores loudly, she could have obstructive sleep apnea. She should see a doctor, preferably a pulmonologist, have a sleep study and follow prescribed treatment for same, usually a cpap device. Obstructive sleep apnea can lead to heart disease, lung disease, nervous disorders etc. Get your wife the help she needs and you will sleep better too.

Go to this website and order some of these. They are about $5 per pair, but they are well worth it for comfort and effectiveness.
