yes they are a little chewy and generally prepared with a lot of garlic ...they are raised on a farm comerically and canned for the market they can be bought in a can...they also sell the shells to serve them in and a little pin like utensil to get them out of the shell a baby fork and you have a thing like a eye curler that hold the snail while removing the inside...

they should be cooked in green sauce, if cooked right, they are great, and then dunk some bread in the sauce

i've had them. their shells are real nice and crunchy. just glad i haven't chipped a tooth yet.... LOL!!!
