average because:
1) if you're skinny, people think you're anorexic and you're not as strong
2) if you're fat, people make fun of you and you could possibly have more health risks

Four years ago I weighed 294 pounds. I was miserable. I couldn't control what I ate, I didn't fit into my clothes and all the size 26/28's were too tight. The ones bigger than that (if you could find them) were hideous. My health sucked and I could barely breathe or move quickly. I was so depressed at what I had let myself become. Sure, I had tried dieting, exercising etc. but I lacked the willpower. I hated being the fat mom at the kids school when I volunteered.
People were rude in public. Staring when I went to a restaurant, like I shouldn't be eating whatever was on my plate. Oh, and if I went to the buffet a second time, I cringed as I heard the "tsk tsk" or the outright vocal comments.
I was usually the biggest person in any room I entered. Cashiers were rude, men didn't hold the door open for me in public, people would ignore me etc.
On 10/25/02, I had gastric bypass surgery, I now weight 164 pounds. I feel wonderful! I still struggle with my eating choices (this is stomach surgery, not brain surgery), but I am so much healthier! I can shop in the normal section of any store. Sales people offer to help me, they think I have money now. (Even though I had it before!) I take pride in my looks. I can ride bikes, play outside with my kids, I feel comfortable at any restaurant.
People are so much kinder! Going from fat to average, I have seen the prejudice. It is truly amazing. Even in lines or doctors offices, etc. fat people are treated badly.
I look back at my fat pictures and the videos we've taken and I can't believe how awful I looked. So puffy and swollen and uncomfortable. I was just so yucky feeling. Even my kids can't remember me being that fat now, they can't believe it was me! But, the proof is in the pictures.
So, I'd rather be AVERAGE than fat or skinny.

I would rather be average because I'm old enough to not be hung up on what I look like, but more concerned with my health.I may be starting late (I'm 42) but it's like fixing up the 57 Chevy stored in a barn. You know it still has alot of life if you just get it in good running condition.

I am 35 and have maintained my average weight since I was 16, 145-150. I like me this away maybe just because I am used to it.

I want to be bigger. Not more fat, but keep my fat percentage around where it is now 13-15%, but add on more muscle and strength.

Average.....it's strange because despite being called 'average', I think it's the most attractive place to be. HTH : )

I'd rather be skinny. Fat is unhealthy and unattractive (usually), and being average is so mediocre and "so-close."
When you're thin, you can fint into all the right clothes, people treat you better because they respect/admire you more, and (at least in my case) I have more confidence when I'm skinny. You also have sooo much more energy!
