The Department of Homeland Security
released new figures
touting its tough new approach to illegal immigration. But
critics say the statistics are a lot of smoke and mirrors. Is
the DHS getting tough on border security and illegal
immigration, or are they just pretending to crack down

Pretending, in my book. The fact is, if there is a group of 20 well-known illegals standing in the middle of the street looking for jobs, the Immigration can't do anything about it because it's "harrassment." So the Border Patrol has to sit and watch the illegals walking around smirking at them, knowing there's nothing they can do.

If they want to crack down, they need to change that law and make it legal for any Border Security and Immigration officials to apprehend and DEPORT any/all illegals that walk the streets. Haha "harrassment," to a person who's presence in this country is ILLEGAL. It's a joke.

Smoke and mirrors.

I understand they are actually trying to step up deportations from prison, but that is about it.

For heaven's sake, Elvira Arellano is still in that church, having been convicted of a felony, deported once, returned and having ducked a subsequent deportation order.

And her address is on the web for anyone to find.

That's cracking down?

DHS, as far as immigration crackdowns, is a joke.
