I noticed they have 0.01 auctions and the rings are like 2, 3, or 4 carats...it all sounds "too good to be true" since there are no bidders and it's 1 cent...it's just crazy..would like to get opinions, thoughts, EXPERIENCES :o)

My husband bought my engagement ring on Ebay about five years ago. It is 2 carats, and it was an amazing $1200. I had it appraised and it was appraised at $8000. It is truly stunning. I would say it's best to really look at the feedback of the seller and look someone that has a good track record.

I looked the ring over and it appears to be a good deal. The seller had 100% feedback, however do you really want to buy your ring online? If you really think that you can get a better deal from somewhere on line I would look on Craigslist. You are able to look at rings that are being sold in your local area. If you find a ring that you really like you can meet with seller and even go to a local jewerly store and make sure that it is real. I would think about it a little longer before you spend $3,000.

I wouldnt but that's just me. I did buy my wedding gown off of ebay so who knows. However dont think you're going to get a ring for 0.01. They will often have a reserve, meaning they wont sell for less than a certain price, and in an acution the bidding goes crazy in the last few minutes or seconds.

Most sellers have 'reserve prices' that have to be met before they actually sell you the item.

Also, alot of times, the cost of shipping is a heck of a lot more than the cost of the item purchased. I bought an aquamarine bracelet off of Ebay for $25, then afterwards, I found out shipping was about $200. No where on the page did it say anything about the high price for 'shipping', and it came to Florida from South Carolina.

I haven't bought an engagement ring on eBay, but I have bought lots of other jewelry items on the site. If you want to purchase a ring on eBay, what you need to look for is:

*a seller with a very high feedback rating

*liberal return policy/guarantee/warranty

*one that will give you a certificate on the stone, ie the cut, clarity, etc.

*You also need to read the item description carefully - many less reputable sellers will use clever wording to make you think you're buying something you're not. Don't be afraid to ask questions - if the seller is reputable, they will not be annoyed. You are, after all, making a very important purchase!

A couple of eBay sellers I really like are isaacjewelry and yigal_jewelry_designs. Good luck with your shopping and congratulations on your upcoming engagement!!!

No, but we bought my husband's wedding ring off eBay. Two of them to be exact, he managed to lose the first one. Both of his rings were simple titianium (no gems/diamonds). We bought them for almost nothing. Shipping on each auction cost more than the actual ring. These rings were both okay when we received them. We are very pleased. Each ring cost about $20 with shipping. We noticed one of our male friends has a ring similar to my husbands and they paid 5-10x the cost.

Would I buy a diamond off eBay? No way!

No, but if you are looking for a good deal... My fiance bought my ring from Direct Buy, the ring was worth about $4000 and we got it for $1500, and it is beautiful! It has perfect clarity and color. My fiance's father can recognize flaws in diamonds, and we were a little unsure when we first bought it because it was such a good deal, but he looked at it and his words were "wow! This diamond is great quality" So we are very happy, and the membership was worth it (especially if you are needing to buy furniture and things when you get married)

Those are the starting prices. they are auctions. if they are no reserve auctions the highest bidder will win. if they are reserve auctions one must break the reserve or it results in a no sale. if you want to buy on eBay just beware of the sellers feedback and make sure you read the description so you know what you are buying. it is a great place to buy anything.

My fiancee bought my ring on ebay. Its BEAUTIFUL and he got a good deal. He bought it from a respected dealer on ebay (READ FEEDBACK) and asked questions about the ring before he bid. He was looking at a lot of rings, he bid on the ring that met his criteria and bought it from a seller that met his criteria as well.

Good luck!

Yep, and I was told that it was platinum and when I got it, it was was gold dipped in platinum, needless to say it changed colors and was so fake! Just be careful, and dont spend too much money.
