I known him sense high school and I think he is real nice and avery thing but I dont feel that way about him how should I let him know how I feel with out hurting him and staying friends.

You should just come straight out and tell him how you feel if your really good friends then he with understand and if not then maybe you werent as good friends as you thought but am sure he will prefer your honesty.

Take "without hurting him" out of your vocabulary.
Tell him how you feel. Be open and honest with him. Then it is up to him if he can handle the rejection. If not well that is sad, but you have no power over how he feels.

Be honest........you will hurt him but in being honest is the best chance to salvage the friendship
