SOMETIMES A NEEDLE LACERATES A VEIN THAT IS USED FOR THE I.V. AND THE RESULTING LACERATION CAUSES A BRUISE. DON'T BE CONCERNED, SOON IT WILL HEAL BACK TO NORMAL

The blood escaped under your skin. I bruise with every needle I get, no worries, although it makes the health nurses feel really bad!

It is from blood leakage under the skin. This is common w9ith IV procedures & is no cause for alarm.
