Yeah, I had a haircut from hell experience once before.... although it does grow back, it's going to be a be-och to wait for it to grow back and you're going to be self-concious while it is growing back...

I didn't get anymore cut off after the horrific haircut.... I was depressed enough already. I just kept my hair back in a ponytail until it grew back. Since it sounds like you no longer have a ponytail, you have a few options.... you can 1. wear a ball cap until your hair grows to your desired length. 2. shave your head bald. As long as you don't have any weird dents or knots in your head, you will be fine and start anew. Warning.... this method will take longer to grow your hair back. 3. since you are a guy, if you have a sense of humor, wear some funny wigs every now and again. No reason, just wear them. Especially since Halloween is tomorrow. 4. deal with it. There's only so much you can do....

Whatever you do, DO NOT LET YOUR BROTHER TOUCH YOUR HEAD AGAIN! If you'd like to get some redemption for the hack job, wait until he's asleep and buzz a line down the middle of his head with some clippers. That'll teach him to f with the ponytail!

Good luck, it will grow back. :-)

I have been there! I am the queen of getting my hair cut and crying for two weeks. Hair gows about 1/2" a month. Grab your ruler and you will be able to tell how long it will take for your length to grow out.
become a fan of hair gel or some other wax until it reshapes itself. Also, you will find after two weeks that your hair relaxes and starts to fall into the new style and looks better.
I have always wanted my husband to grow his hair shoulder length so I am wincing in pain with you ; )

From a female with long hair (4-5 inches past my shoulders): If your hair was "perfect" - why did you trust your *brother* with cutting it? I mean only If he's a hair stylist - have you llike his cuts / used him before? I usually get references / ask people who have similar hair types and or hairstyles that I like before going to someone 'new'. Often it takes me a week or two before my hair seems to "settles down"/I get the hang of doing it in a way that I like/ looks good. Be patient - growing it back sucks when it was fine before - but that's all you can do now. Just be patient and more careful next time! ;)

Im a girl and definitely I know how that feels like, Im not obssessed with my hair or what but I want it long and puleez I dont mind people wanting to me to cut it shorter. then I finally got it shortened due to requrements length etc, I was upset really but hey I got inspirations from models /personalities/ who have hairs of the same length and yeah I realized it was not the end of everything. and to think im a girl. Cant believe im enjoying the ultimate transformation, from long dark straight hair to a colored mohawk, how was that? Just a booster darling, I must say long hair for men are very appealing especially if one carries it well, but men look more like men/ masculine with a clean cut hair thats well maintained, look for inspirations and see how you can maneuver things...yeah yeah for sure you are lokking much much betre, smile now

Is it possible you are having a hard time adjusting to your new "image"? Ask someone that will give you an honest opinion. Their are usually multiple ways to "style" a new do. Get some styling products.Experiment! Dont get depressed. Sounds like you needed an update. Dont be afraid of change. Good luck!

it's okay, it'll grow back, in the meanwhile go to a hair stylist (not a barber) and get some sort of style. Manly style of course.

The good news is...

Hair grows. It sucks now, and will for a little while. But hair, unlike limbs, grows. Patience and time will make this better. Wear a hat in the meantime.
