I would suggest visiting your local animal shelter and asking to visit with several small dogs there... they say that a mixed breed dog is calmer and sometimes smarter than a purebred. Just remember.... dogs shed and if you get a longer haired dog it may leave it's fur all over your house! Take your siblings with you so your parents can see how the dog will act with everyone. Having a dog is a big responsibility. You have to walk it every day because if it doesn't get enough exercise it won't be happy and might chew on things besides its toys or pee and poop in the house.

Boxers and pugs are really good with children, most likely the only small dog if found that is. Check out this site it tells you the top 10 family oriented dog breeds (personally, I prefer the boxer they look vicious, but are really giant marshmallows). Hopefully it helps make your decision.
P.S. I had a Pomeranian, they are not the best choice if you have small children. I had to get rid of mine because she kept trying to make herself dominate over my 3 yo daughter.

Get a rat terrier puppy to grow with the younger siblings. They are great for kids, very loving and loyal. They are great protectors too. You can get them in so many sizes. They can be anywhere from 2 pounds up to 40. I have rat terriers and would never own any other breed, I have four daughters and they just love them.

Miniature schnauzers are the best. They love all the attention they can get and they have to be brushed, but they do not shed. Great companions. They don't need a big yard or a big house. They are happy wherever.

Small dogs and small kids aren't always the best combination, and I small dogs are not less inclined to eat poop. It just depends on the dog.

Probably a dachsund or a Bischon. Bischon Frise are cute little puppies that are great because they have hair and not fur, so the allergens most dogs have are not present, they are playful, low maintenance, great with children and very little fuss. They like to cuddle and sit on your lap, and are very friendly.

The header of your question is what grabbed me, then I read the details I'm a large dog person. I love Labs. If you are set on a small dog, I would suggest a Cockapoo (spelling ?). They are extremely smart and you don't want a pure-bred dog. Just remember, YOU will ultimately determine the personality of your dog. What you end up with depends on what you put into it.

I think it would be best to get a rat terrie or another small dog that won't bit the smaller kids... So good luck finding a dog

Pug, sheltie, shih-tzu, lhasa apso, beagle, boston terrier, yorkie, maltese, westie..etc
Look for a hardy little dog that would get along with small children.

That would be for your parents to decide with you. A small pet can be a handful if it gets to attached to one family member. I would talk to your parents and have them help make that decision, it's a long, long term commitment. Who takes care of it when you're in school? At friends for the weekend? or what happens when you go on vacation? Lots of details to decide on..seek the advice of your parents., please
