If they have a green card, then they are on their way to citizenship allready. Getting married will not speed up the process in any form or fashion.
If you got married, you'd fill out a change of status for the person, which then would allow that person to.... get a green card. Then further down the road, in about 10 years they can go for a full blown USA citizenship.

I'm happy your Welsh and not English because you sound stupid 1. Native Americans are not British. When people say native Americans their talking about the Indians who we stole the land from. 2. We don't let anybody from any country move here if that was true are population would be about a billion not 60 million. 3. You don't need a green card to get in you can visit for 90 days on visa 4. We haven't always helped each other in war 5. Not that many Americans will have British ancestors many where from Ireland,Italy and other parts of the world.

A person with a green card is a resident alien, they legally live here. To become a citizen they must apply and follow the steps to pass the citizenship test.

They need to apply to become a citizen. If they haven't become a citizen the only thing the green card and marriage does is give them an American spouse, which may have its advantages but which doesn't mean they're a citizen.

Your partner must be a citizen in order for you to get a green card. If he/she only have a green card - you will get nothing by marrying them.

No, but it makes them eligible for being a greencard holder.
If they stay more than 5 years, they can apply to become a citizen.
Beware of marrying a greencard holder though. For example, if the spouce in India, the wait period for the spouce is close to 5 years before they are granted US visa. the waiting period varies by country.

It is according to what type of greencard they have. If they are here legally, and have a temporary greencard, then yes you can marry them and apply to adjust their status to permanent resident. You do have to prove that you have a legitimate relationship and marriage. It takes time and money, and is by no means automatic.

You have to reside in the USA for 5 years minimum individually.
There's no chance to speed this up.
