I took my basset hound trick or treating when I was a kid. I dressed him up as my "kid brother" and he carried his own pumpkin/pail. I think he got more treats than I did. A lot of the houses gave him dog treats, others gave him regular treats.
Mind you, this was a fairly small neighborhood and nearly everybody knew each other.
If it was a place where I knew there was a dog who might be a problem, we stayed away or I had him do a sit/stay (since he was trained) at the curb. You could stay off the property with the dog while the girls go to the house, if you think there will be a problem.
Make sure you dog is well-behaved if you are going to do this, and don't forget the poop bags.

Yeah, sure. I mean, why not if you live in a dog-friendly place? Most people here buy dog treats to give out because a lot of people take their dogs ToT with them. A little extra exercise and socialization never hurt anybody. Then again, ToT for my area ends at 6pm before it even gets dark, lol. Rock and I are going to a graveyard this year to just hang out with some friends after ToTing.

Take him.
If anyone says anything rude just walk away.as long as your dog is leashed while you go there should be no problem.
I'm sure there will be far more people who get a kick out of it than those who won't.Especially the old folks will really enjoy it as will the little ones trick or treating around you.
I know cos I took our dog with us when my kids were small.Only one guy was a butt about it.I apologized and led the dog to the sidewalk to wait for the kids who brought out a dollar for an ice cream cone for the dog and an apology from the man. We'd caught him off-guard and he was terrified that his dog would get past him to my dog.His dog could have cared less.

I would leave my dog at home. You never know if someones dog is not restrained when your children knock on the door and someone elses dog charges after yours. Believe me breaking up a dog fight is not easy or fun for that matter. You could end up getting hurt. There are also some people out there that could be mean to your dog, there will be alot of people and children out and about.

it depends. if you have a really tame dog, it shouldn't be a problen, it'll be just like a kid. if you have a crazy dog, then maybe you shouldn't. also. if you have alot of neighbors that have crazy dogs that have easy access to your dog, (for ex: they leave their dog in the house so when they open the door, their dog comes charging out) then maybe you shouldn't. it really all depends, but your dog is a part of your family. and if you can get it in a costume(unlike my dog) then you should take advantage of it. lol

It all depends on how well your dog behaves really, if he/she pulls on the leash or behaves badly then you shouldn't take him/her. People, well most people wont mind you having your dog as long as he/she is not trying to bite them or something, I'm taking both of my dogs out tomorrow nght, so I saw yes bring your dog with you.

i'd leave him. i don't know how friendly your dog is, but keep in mind there will be lots of other people in strange (maybe frightening to a dog) costumes.
