My mother had a wheaten terrier for years and two months ago he passed away sadly. Anyway we were browsing around and the pups are like $500.00. I really really want to get her one I know she would be so excited, but I can reason paying that amount of money for a pet. I live in Wisconsin. There isn't any breeders here. But I can arrange for the pup to be picked up anywhere from Ohio to Nebraska from Texas to the Dakotas.

Your best bet is to go through a local shelter or rescue society. They will be far cheaper than buying from a breeder. But usually they will not let you buy one for someone else, and they always have an extensive screening process. You probably need to get your mom involved in the process a little. I did a quick search using Milwaukee, WI as the location. It turned up a fair number of results. Link is below, it would be your area to get in touch with them and get the ball rolling. Good luck.

Heres the first place to look. You should be able to find help here for locating breeders and breed rescue clubs in or near your area, who may have or lead you to a source to get what you're looking for.

Check the Internet for breed specific clubs. They will be able to point you in the right direction. They will also be able to point you toward Wheaton rescue groups where you maybe able to find one who is in need of a new home.
From what I understand, the Wheaton is not widely bred here. It has not gained the popularity that too many others have. Our neighbor has one that he paid 1200 for, so 500 is a bargain. Since you are looking for dogs that are NOT show quality, they may be fewer & far between.

Good Luck!!

***ALL**** "pet-quality" pups are available to PET homes *because* they are NOT "show-quality"!!!

$500 is a ***LOW*** price! Show prospects will be THOUSANDS! You MUST keep in mind that EVERYTHING has gone up in price since the old dog was purchased!

There are wheatie breeder in EVERY state! You just aren't looking in the right places. Contact your local(county) kennel club-they're all listed on the AKC site,

$500 seems cheap for a wheaten, even a pet.

I suggest checking out the Wheaten Terrier rescues to see what they have available.

I don't think $500 is a bad price at all and doubt you will find a pup for much less than that, especially a well bred one.
