to clarify, im pulling these conclusions from biblical standpoint not because i personally believe it, (i neither believe in god nor satan). however the past couple times ive asked this the only answers ive gotten were either name calling, or condemnation, or reoccuring verses. now please read what im asking for. im asking for a VERSE (we know you like to quote them all the time), where satan himself, states a lie. (not where the bible ACCUSES satan of lying but one of satan physically lying) now keep in mind that satan telling adam and eve that the fruit wouldnt "surely" kill them and they would become like god, was the truth, as adam and eve lived at least another 600 years, and they became as god knowing right from wrong. neither is tempting a form of lying, (especially when temping that person is giving him/her food/water after theyve been in the desert for so many days - that seems more good then evil to me) so again i will ask for VERSES only, that satan SAYS a lie.

for you guys referring to adam and eve and the verse that claims satan is a liar, please re-read the top of the question, where i asked for a verse that doesnt ACCUSE satan but states a lie he made. (adam and eve did not die on the spot which is what satan said, "you will not surely die" and they DID become as god and know right from wrong.

The essence of Adam and Eve's sin was not so much taking of the forbidden fruit. It was setting themselves up as judge between God and Satan. In so doing they put themselves above God—usurping his authority. This was the sin that caused their downfall. Taking the forbidden fruit was the outcome of this action.

To make this concept clearer, picture God on the left, Satan on the right, and see Adam and Eve placing themselves above both and deciding who is right and who is wrong. Absurd, I know, but this is exactly what they did. They took the place of God.

This was the cause of Satan's downfall in the first place. He wanted to be as God and said, "I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High" (Isaiah 14:14, NIV).

If you are looking for where Satan, himself states a lie then go over the verse again.

Gen 3:4 - And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Did Eve die? Yes she did.

Gen 3:5 - ye shall be as gods
Can we call Adam and Eve a Creator, Ruler, or God?
We can not, it’s that simple.

Gen 3:5 - knowing good and evil
This part of the verse Satan DID NOT lie.
God knew the meaning of good and evil, yet He preferred that His human creation not understand evil from experience.

To Eve, what she contemplated (the potential advantages of eating) seemed to be good? It did not seem evil. She was deceived.

Worse was Adam’s response. Surely he knew better! Hiding was the first couple’s response to their newly acquired knowledge.

That they were naked and ashamed was their first acknowledgement of the chasm that opened between God and themselves.

John 8 v 44
Satan said that Eve would not die if she ate from the tree of the knowledge of the good and bad. He was planting a seed of doubt and Eve began to desire to eat from that tree.
Did Eve not die ? Was God lying to them about the consequences for disobedience ?
Genesis 3 1 -6

Adam and Eve didn't become like God wholey. they lacked the abiltity to create things out of nothing, live forever (a lot of people in the old bible times lived a long time). The only thing it gave them was the abiltity to distinguish right from wrong and caused them to actually do wrong things. THis is not a characteristic of God. Satan may not lie that much because he wants to decieve us and make us think he is smart. But he did lie by telling them they would not die. Living 600 years is still dying.

Sure! Very first book of the bible, Genesis. Satan lies to Eve saying they won't die if they eat of the fruit of the garden that God forbid them to eat. His lie is....that they would be like God if they ate it. That's what snagged her. I'd read all of chapter 3, so you can see the full story. No, dear, it wasn't the truth. That is why you are confused about satan and his ability to twist the truth. He also did it with Jesus when he was in the desert. Satan will quote scripture out of context, or leave something out. He encourged Eve's disobedience of God (just as he encouraged Jesus to deny God) by appealing to human pride. Quite the snake!

P.S. And they did die; both spiritually and eventually, in the physical body. By the way....take care that you yourself do not fall prey to satan's tricks.

P.P.S. God did not say they would die on the spot, hon. He said "they would surely die"...and they did.

If you are christian, you must believe Satan lied to Adam and Eve who eating the "apple" so Adam committed evil , will be drove out of Edin. Bible did not tell Adam hate Satan lied to him. You can interpretate that Adam broke his commitment. Actually people commit sin is beginning of clarify which is right or wrong. Your right may not be my right. Your wrong may not be my wrong. These will creat arguement and fight. The sin is coming up. If I interpretate this statement, I will not say Adam broke the commitment with god who will not set up a commitment with human being. The human being was creating by him who love his products very much. He will not ruin his products. So the differenct interpretation will be sin and created arguement.

The Satan of the bible is a mythological creation made to instill fear into sheep. Mythology should not be feared. The story of Adam and Eve is also mythology.

But if you insist on scripture....

God lies by proxy; He sends prophets or lying spirits to deceive:

1 Kings 22:23
Now, therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.

2 Chronicles 18:22
Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets.

Jeremiah 4:10
Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people.

Jeremiah 20:7
O Lord, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived.

Ezekiel 14:9
And if a prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the Lord have deceived that prophet.

2 Thessalonians 2:11
For this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.

i think you just answered your own question. Genesis 3:4, And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. Now you said that they lived another 600 years. And after that 600 years what happened. As far as I know they are not still here somewhere. That was a lie, because they did die. In my opinion and this is just how I think, they could have been in the garden for 200 or 2000 years before this particular verse of scripture. nobody really knows and it really doesn't matter. the fact is the serpent told Eve that she would not die and granted she did not drop dead in that very instant, but God never said she would drop dead either. but he said that she would die and as every one in the world knows she did

When Adam and Eve where created they were to live forever in the garden of Eden. Satan did lie when he told them they wouldn't surely die if they ate the forbidden fruit.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Love the question... Can't answer it as there is no answer that satisfies the conditions of the question. Biblically, Satan didn't lie.

Too, much of what Christians know of the Devil, or Satan doesn't come from the Bible anyway.

Good job.

Edit:
It's fun to watch Christians now redefining "death" to suppport the argument that Satan lied to Adam and Eve. Metaphor when it pleases them, and literalism when they're frightened or threatened. Oh well.
