Your soul goes to heaven/summerland/afterlife and your spirit is a way to communicate with your friends and family after you pass through the veil.

No, good question. The soul is where your personality, feelings, and decisions are resolved. Your spirit is the inner most part of your being where Jesus is able to live in us. People experience an empty feeling inside and try to fill it with knowledge, success, drugs, but the only one that can fill that spot is the Lord Jesus. Once a person received the Lord in their life , they feel satisfied

My understanding is that the soul is a heavier spirit body.
The astral double, that looks just like us, and is influenced
by baser spiritual aspects, like magnetism
The spirit, is what we can become. And is free of the restraints
of the soul.
