Is there a right or wrong way to pray? I talk to God, but is that really the way I should be praying?

Yes, talk to God- Talk to Jesus- Just make sure you are praying to Jesus ( who is God, of course) but know that it is JESUS who is our mediator. Not any saint. Many people pray to saints- or pray to Mary, but it is JESUS who hears our prayers....

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

I don't think there is a wrong way to pray. James talks about a selfish prayer though.

That doesn't mean that you can't pray for protection and prosperity. Don't pray for stupid things like to win the lottery just so you can have the money.

Talk to God like you were talking to a friend, don't use formula prayers, flowery words, or pretentious bull.

Do this, look up in the sky and say, "Hey God, how ya doing, its me again, just wanted to thank you for the really great opprotunity to experience life today, it was a real pisser, got used and abused, yelled at for stuff I didn't even do but that's OK I learned something about patientence and forgivness, and You know I need to work more on those areas. So I'll talk to you later. Say Hi to Jesus, Buddha, Mohamed, and all the other prophets, saints and various other good guys for me, and tell gramps I really like that fishing pole he left for me, its working out really good, Later Great Big Dude."

If it works, why not?

Pray with your heart. In the end God doesn't care how you pray just as long as you are praying to him.

There is no wrong way to pray.Everybody's style of praying is as unique as they are.I pray like you do,only I am a motormouth.I talk to God all day long!I'm sure I try his patience sorely! But if I bother him he hasn't mentioned it.

praying needs to be extremely open and respectful. Pour your heart out to God and say to him everything your feeling whether its good or bad, its just getting help and building your relationship with your heavenly father, just be very respectfull
